Legit question. I was watching the 08 election documentary on CNN Sunday and they were showing a bunch of angry Hillary supporting women who was mad she lost the primary so they decided to vote McCain since he selected Palin as his running mate. Hillary would have easily been President in 2008 if Obama wasn't around. Her popularity seemed to be surging at that time.

Fast forward to today and she's one of the most vilified and hated women on the planet. What happened? Was it her actions as Secretary of State? Was it a successful smear campaign the Republicans and conservative media had against her for years? Was it successful Russian propaganda?

I can't pinpoint it.

Reds hated her since her husband was president.

Blues started to hate her when she talked down to Obama and said a lot of slick shyt. She was grossly vengeful when Obama came from nowhere to “steal” her 08 presidency.

For moderates imo she represents elitism and career politics. It was almost a foregone conclusion that the 2016 presidency was hers no matter what and that’s politics as usual to many people.

I don’t think the russian propaganda played too large a role as it mostly influenced red voters who disliked her to begin with.

A lot of The Coli was mere sperm cells in the 90s.

Listen, it was republican conspiracy. Pure and simple.

Plus, she made a lot of money and people felt someone was wrong with that

Look at the stats. In 2013, 2014 and 2015, she was THE most popular democrat.

Hillary Clinton most popular U.S. politician, poll shows

- The Washington Post

It's time for the media to admit that Hillary Clinton is popular

It's all of this combined with the fact that she did not come off an an "authentic" person.

She wanted to be President. Nothing wrong with that. But then, she kept shifting positions, shifting ideals, on the way to that goal. And people don't like that when they feel like you're doing it for the sole purpose of gaining their vote.

With Obama, there was a relaxed human side to him. Make no mistake, the man was a politician, but there was a human side to him. With Hillary, anytime she smiled, it came off as her knowing that she has to smile in these situations because if she doesn't, people will think that she's a witch or some manner of Harpy.

I honestly think part of it is America's view of what "strength" is too. She wanted to come off as strong, firm, no weakness. A decisive leader. That's something that women have to deal with a lot, in this country. Empathy isn't one of the male genders strong points. At least not in this country.

A lot of times, unless you blanket it with religion, empathy is seen as a weakness. But empathy is something that is inherent in women. It's biological. They are nurturers. If they weren't, the human race would have died off long ago. So when your aims are a position where many believe that empathy cannot play a role (and that's bullshyt because it should) shyt can get fukked up along the way...

I don't hate Hillary Clinton though...never did, just thought Bernie was the easy win.

That was in reference to a specific event.

As usual, your ahistorical nut hugging and tagging me around this site because you lack a father exposes you as the virulent petulant miscreant you truly are who isn't deserving to breathe the same air as one of your superiors.

If you were smart you'd send me your resume. Alas, you're stuck defending a losing position and chasing mufflers in the basement of hell that must truly be your life trolling anonymous people online.

Well we can come back and get that from you another time…
There are a lot of excellent potential candidates, but again some of them have to get re-elected in 2018, and some of them have to figure out how they’re going to help other Democrats get elected in 2018. I don’t think this will gel until after the midterm election, and then, you know, we’ll see who’s serious and who’s not. Look, I’ve had personal conversations with a number of people who are being touted as potential candidates. They know the price you pay. They know that there is a whole industry on the right that will just strip them down. And look what happened—I’m off the stage, and all of a sudden Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, Amy Klobuchar—women I know well and respect, are standing up and speaking out and getting hammered. And the new phrase is they’re being “Hillary’d”. My name with an apostrophe D. Because you’ve got them being told to cease and desist. Be quiet. Don’t do this. Listen to her voice, it’s too shrill, it’s not this, it’s not that. So all of this attention on me, which some would like to think was only about me, which is another mistake, and if they don’t learn that lesson, we’re never going to get a woman president. All of a sudden now we see, ah, she’s gone, let’s turn on any woman who might dare to run for president and see what we can do to her.
