Prior to TBC Power 105 was second fiddle to Hot 97 in NYC when it came to urban radio stations. That Ray J interview took TBC to the next level and TBC was the number 1 radio urban radio show in the country till this very day

Realistically Hot 97’s last hurrah was Jay-Z vs Nas and all it entailed.
It's a New York based station with New York rappers becoming secondary to other regions and the South in particular.
Regardless of how one may feel about the regional shìt, the "leader of the pack" mystique was gone and no rival to the Breakfast Club didn't help.

To be fair Hot 97 didnt necessarily operate with the format 105 became known for.
Did they interview rappers? Sure
Was there occasional fukkery? Sure
But it was nowhere near TBC’s zenith in which pretty much succeeded 106&Park/TRL for the go to place for an entertainer to go to promote a project
Angie throwing out soft shoe questions was never meant to have the same effect as Charlamagne

Yea, streaming services like Spotify did a lot of damage to radio stations.
Even in the case of TBC most people are watching the interviews on YouTube and not listening to the interviews live on the radio
Last time I actually listened to the radio live was when a Hurricane knocked out the power in my city last year.... I had no choice
If you have a old car that was built before infotainment screens became the norm in cars I can see people with old cars like that still listening to the radio.

Their morning show sucks, TBC is way more entertaining than Ebro and Rosenberg.
Angela Yee in the midday is better than TT Torres.
Angie Martinez is a legend and is more popping than Nessa.
Only Funk Flex at night time is keeping them a float a little.
