So let me get this straight.

MCHG was announced a little less than a month before its release date, had commercials, and got promoted through a Samsung deal with a million copies given away for free.

Yet Jay sold more first week with MCHG with NO single than he did with BP3 with all the DOA hype and the huge single with "Run This Town" with Rihanna and Kanye...

Matter of fact, he sold more first week than Blueprint 1 AND The Black Album. And behind 4 rap albums that dropped within the span of a month.

How did the hell did he do it? :wtf:

I think people are underestimating how much the PUBLIC likes the album. And no I'm not saying "Sales = Quality" but I think there is a difference from how the Public feels about the album then the critics. "Yeezus" got critical accliam but I feel the Public was lukewarm on it. Where as "MCHG" got mixed reviews but people are calling this Jay's best album in years. So "MCHG" is probably going end up going 3x Platinum when it's all said and done. Remember he hasn't even official released a single. And we all know he has about 5 songs on here that can be big singles. Also believe it or not the only reason "Blueprint 3" was so big was cause the singles were huge. The album cuts were lukewarm.

But let's not act like BP3 didn't get at least a month and a half of promotion and 2 singles before it dropped. Especially with all the DOA hype and Run This Town.

I think the numbers are legit... I just wondered why this marketing scheme worked better than BP3's... especially seeing that he gave away a million free copies.
