He dropped out of school at 16 and probably needed cash....but he was in the entertainment industry running around with Rappers by the time he was 18 and could have a full time job. Jay did no more than a ticket scalper type hustle as a kid. When Jay was old enough to be charged as an adult for anything he was in the music business.
