Jody was a abled-body man-child with two kids by two different baby mamas. He was basically a bum.
Nothing wrong with living at home w/parents if you're an adult who helps put food on the table and help with monthly bills. When you start fukkin and getting chicks pregnant, nah son. It's time to go. Hell, when you start dating on a regular basis you shouldn't even want to live at home anymore.

A lot of posters in here live with their mama so they taking this personal 
all that “stay at home at 20” shyt goes out the window when you ain’t in school, ain’t working and got 2 baby mamas. You need to be living with one of those baby mamas with your kid.
but we know Jody didn’t want to do that cuz he wanted to run the streets still and fukk other hoes
if you paid attention to the movie, Jodys mama and Melvin we’re finally progressing in life and trying to build something together (that’s what the garden represented). They were not bad characters hurting Jody like some of the posts in here are trying to say.
by the end of the movie, it looked like Jody was trying to break the cycle sooner than Melvin and his mom did. Jody wasn’t a bad young man so his mom instilled something in him to make him not go 100% to the streets like his homie (Omar gooding character).
