Kendrick's lyrics flow into each other very well, and way better than most bar to bar rappers currently in the game.

If you take the lyrics line by line there's nothing really amazing to it, you just need to look at the bigger picture.

You have to really Understand rhyming with Kendrick. He is very lyrical. It's just not I. The simple form of most rappers.

It's easy to understand a rhyme scheme when it's simple yet lyrical.

Example

I got a dope rhyme scheme
Nothing but killers on my team

It's very easy to hear the two words that rhyme.

Kendrick tucks in so many little rhymes in between his verses it can be hard to catch because it's so fast, and usually he's trying to give a message so your trying to hear what he's saying

He also is one of the best at using Alliteration without it sounding corny

I would. Kendrick aint and never was saying shyt. His writing is low level, middle school poetry kid shyt.

I dont know why Ishould entertain you since you are a know attention seeking troll.

But I do think you usually put some logic behind your arguments. So I want you point out whats middle school poetry (or trash that you wrote before you did a sneaky edit) about Sing about me/dying of thirst.

Kendrick has never said anything that truly impressed me.

Something that I'd rewind and do the :banderas:

He just says simple shyt in an overcomplicated way:manny:

I have a classic thread dealing with this exact issue

how about you stop catching feelings and post specific lines instead of whole songs? Do that and I'll tell you what's middle-school about it

i have been a kendrick fan for awhile but i think you have a point. Kendrick hasnt really said anything that really impressed me like that. I think he makes great music and is a talented rapper but his wordplay, metaphors and punchlines are kinda weak compared to people like jay electronica, pusha t, jay z etc.

I feel you and appreciate the serious reply, amongst a board of so called 'hip-hoppers'. I think Kendrick can be lyrical in an invoking emotion type of way, obviously without the charisma of someone like a 'pac, but less MC 'lyrical' ala getting washed by Jay Elec. Good lookin breh.

To say that he washed Kendrick on Control is you doing exactly what you trying to say you not doing...its hate.

You can prefer the verse but calling it a wash...nah kid we see you being slick :wtb:

Because his lyrics are so good you can see a vision in your mind. He doesn't need a song full of ironic one liners. He can talk to you through rhyme and you can see what he's saying rather clearly. It's poetic.

But what about punchlines. Yall probably think Lloyd Banks better then kendrick. :russ:

There isn't one way to rap or be considered lyrical.
I know i got the banks avy but banks punchlines>kendricks and im fans of both

You can't judge how lyrical someone is (or isn't) just by posting plain text. There is more to MCing and using words to portray a message or feeling (being lyrical)

This is exactly why people say Tupac 'wasn't lyrical' because they paste lines of his that are simple. A true wordsmith does not need to use a ton of big words to get across simple points. Kurupt is considered 10x more lyrical than Tupac but he said absolutely fukking nothing on 'New York, New York' Canibus is considered more lyrical than Tupac but did he ever have a song that hit half as hard as say 'Dear Momma' ? At the end of the day who's lyrics are better at portraying feelings or a message...Tupac or Canibus??

That's why I don't get into these debates really. The guys who are 'lyrical' tend to not say anything more than the guys who may deliver it more simple, using other tools such as tone, to fill it in. That is why rapping isn't spoken word and why lyrics shouldn't be displayed as such.
You're confusing being a more effective communicator with being a lyricist. In the hip hop context, people view lyricists as people with the hottest lines and who put their words together the best. 2Pac has always been considered a great storyteller, but no one ever considered him a Biggie-like technician.
The point is, you're trying to make a value judgment about who is a better artist and that is not the same thing as arguing about who is the best spitter. You yourself admit that people have a very specific definition in mind, and then you go on to define something very different (MCing). A good lyricist is not always a dope emcee and vice versa. When people say Kendrick is not a super lyricist they are saying he is not 3 Stacks, Hov, Lupe, etc. He's not slick with the worldplay, metaphors or double entendres.

How am I catching feelings? I have nothing invested. I enjoy discussing hip hop, thats all.
Normally this is where people throw shyt on you (which you want), but I wont. Since I seriously want to know your opinion.

And I want you to defend your statement by pointing out what is "middle school poetry" with Sing about me (the lyrics is on the screen in the video).

(its more to lyrics and poetry then out of context lines from a storytelling song you know)

Its up to you to defend your statement by answering my question. Not make me do the work for you. I have already a post in here saying why I think Kendrick is lyrical, its up to you to argue against it.

But you just did what simple trolls do. When ever they are cornered with a serious question they deflect by making the other person do the work for them. And when that is done they keep deflecting to make the other person do more work over and over again.

Answer my question with out deflecting or you have once and for all proved that you are a troll that you cant engage in a serious conversation.

I have proved myself of being serious by posting a argument why Kendrick is lyrical, now its up to you to do the same.
