I think he was always a good actor but in the 2000's he settled to heavily on his good looks and did a lot of mediocre rom-coms. But even then he has some gems. U-571 was underrated.

Dude is extremely overrated to me

He basically plays the same "texas boy" in all his movie but just changes his look a little

He also is starting to overact alot ala Johnny Depp

But hey to each his own :manny:

Hope you say the same about Denzel...

I think he's a great actor. I've been a huge fan of him since A Time To Kill which is still one of my all time favorite movies. Also, he was good in Contact and Frailty. He did a lot of chick flicks after The Wedding Planner, but can you blame him. That shyt was a box office smash. Putting him in a chick flick is like printing money. Minus Failure to Launch because they put that horse faced cac bytch in it. I actually liked Fools Gold though with that bytch from Entourage.
this movie gave me chills when i first saw that shyt

He stopped making bullshyt romantic comedies and refocused on good roles that showcased his talents. Look at his career decisions starting in 2011. He took a 2 year break, came back with The Lincoln Lawyer and has been on a roll ever since.

Pretty much, plus he was one of the rising stars in the 90's with some big roles (A Time To Kill, Amistad, Contact) so it's not even as if the guy's talent came out of nowhere, he just became dedicated to his craft again.

Nolan said he saw Mud and thought McConaughey would be perfect for Interstellar.

Mud is actually a pretty good movie. But he just had that incredible run of Dallas Buyer's Club coming out late 2013, True Detective in early 2014 and Interstellar late 2014. Just happened to line up :manny:

Remember when Wolf of Wall Street came out and the trailers were like, "Academy Award nominee Leonardo DiCaprio, Academy Award nominee Jonah Hill... and Matthew McConauhey."

Now he's the only one of the three with an Oscar. :ohhh:
and he had a 3 minute roll:beli:

People for get the they were comparing this guy to paul newman and stuff, during the height of Leomania and Brad Pitt in the Fight Club.
