How did the SEC even become the best conference?

Like i said before the hirings of saban richt and tubbs made the sec more than a 3 team league. Look at the first 10 sec championship games Florida and Tennessee only teams to rep the east while the west was pretty much Alabama and Auburn a couple of times
i was in New Orleans for that sugar bowl. You are thee worst type of fan talking about 16-13 is a beatdown

I work at the game. Auburn was never in danger of losing that game. I still think USC won have the championship if they play each other. Not a blowout tho.
I don't get it, how did people just decide the SEC is the gold standard?
Most of the teams save for like 4 are absolutely garbage.

Its funny looking back how the Big 12 was the conference that was getting the privledge in the early 00s they never took advantage of it

Oklahoma got that "look the part" pass because they were rolling up big numbers in 03 and 08. I don't know if people remember but the media was in overdrive with the hype when it came to the 03 Sooners. I remember Craig James saying 7 of the top 10 players in heisman should've been Sooners so glad KSU destroyed them

Trev Alberts went on live tv and pretty much said Miami and FSU lost on purpose to avoid playing Oklahoma in bcs title game
Playoff killed the SEC because if it wasn't for the playoffs Alabama would've played Florida State and won and be champion right now. If they go to 8 teams would look even more even than do it now.
