Don't listen to this cat up here rah rahin' in order to get his interview. :cape:

Lets be real here, Hot97 is getting payola money we just don't know how yet. One loop hole may be the Hot97 dj's who also nightlight in the clubs (or dj's affiliated with Hot97 dj's who serve as buffers), getting paid in the club setting to make songs hot, which in turn gives Hot97 a valid reason to play the song on the station.

Meaning the song is in rotation in the club once someone pays for it to be, the fans start to like it and then begin requesting it on the radio based off of hearing it in the club. Or the dj himself just saying this is what I play at the club so I'm going to play it on the radio. All they would have to do is pass it off as scientific research that shows the song is well liked and has a legit grassroots club buzz. :dj2:To the public that would appear to be the case as long as on one suspects payola. :ninja2:

That's one logically scenario based off of the excuse that the clubs mess with the songs so that's why they play them on Hot97 which is what Ebro was saying during the whole indy vs. major beef that was going on sometime back. I can tell NY artist are losing patients with NY radio though. Styles P, Maino, Papoose, Nore and now Talib are starting to speak out more and more about this bs. :ban:I salute them and I hope the truth comes out fully.

It depends with Complex. A site like VladTv is under Complex's network and Vlad does take money to have content placed on his site. If I remember correctly they charge $100 for content to be added to their main page. Whether you consider that Complex taking the money or not is your call.

what u talking about? he clearly aknowledged that ebro played his record off the strength of the relationship they had and he had to pay a PROMOTER who then did what they did to get the record played in other parts of the country .. be it payola .. or as well as utilizing relationships .. like he did with ebro. (whatever the promoter did .. he isn't really privy'ed to .. he saw the reports and it worked)

also .. im def not a ebro supporter .. but hot 97 is actually very competive in ratings with power1051 right now has been the case since like november .. .. both power1051 n hot 97 get their ass kicked in ratings but by like z100 and other pop stations. in general hip hop radio isn't that well rated in new york .. truth be told
:what: You study radio stations rantings? TF

Ebro is walking proof of hwy New York is gone soft...

Somebody should have put their hands on dude already...How is New York letting this guy get away with all the disrespectful stuff that he says...?
Hmm perhaps
1. New York nikkas are the most civilized nikkas in the nation
2. New york nikkas got more important shyt to do than worry about hiphop dj:s
3. No one cares about Ebro or what he says enough to drop him.

I'm kind of confused, if it's all about payola, how come the "real hip hop" artists from NY can't get their label to pay the same way others do?

I'm not saying it's not payola going on but most these nikkaz complaining are signed to record labels

And whoever said World Star only charge a stack either got old info or World Star has changed tremendously over the past 3 months or so

I hit them up asking how to get my music on their front page

I didnt even bring up payola, simply asked how does an artist go about getting on the front page

And they replied with some automated email saying it was like 3-4 stacks to get a vid on their front page for a day

thank god you mentioned the timemark when the confrontation starts...cuz aint nobody tryna hear talib interviewed for over a half an hour :russ:

I listened to the interview and it was actually a really good interview. It wasn't one of those crack jokes and make wise ass charlemagne tha god interviews. It was 2 dudes sitting down discussing the business side of the music industry from a radio's perspective.

Funny story and ill throw this out in this thread since we on this topic ..

I remember a few weeks back a nygga offered me $300 to play his song in the club .. he wasn't bs'ing either ... he was clearly a street nygga who had street money .. and probably had a local popping song. He asked me how much i was making to dj the event and said .. you can make that same amount by playing 1 song right now .. cash... but no lie .. i couldn't do it cuz i built the vibe up just to play the hottest songs .. i would completely kill my crowd by throwing in his song even if i hyped it on the mic .. and also integrity out the window ... however i could have made out $600 from 1 club stop by taking that bread ... and nothing criminalizing that act if i did it take it .. but as a DJ .. i cant play a song if i never heard it or dont believe in it. + reading a crowd .. building anticipation and not disrupting the mood of the crowd is one of the most important dj skills
