Funny story and ill throw this out in this thread since we on this topic ..

I remember a few weeks back a nygga offered me $300 to play his song in the club .. he wasn't bs'ing either ... he was clearly a street nygga who had street money .. and probably had a local popping song. He asked me how much i was making to dj the event and said .. you can make that same amount by playing 1 song right now .. cash... but no lie .. i couldn't do it cuz i built the vibe up just to play the hottest songs .. i would completely kill my crowd by throwing in his song even if i hyped it on the mic .. and also integrity out the window ... however i could have made out $600 from 1 club stop by taking that bread ... and nothing criminalizing that act if i did it take it .. but as a DJ .. i cant play a song if i never heard it or dont believe in it. + reading a crowd .. building anticipation and not disrupting the mood of the crowd is one of the most important dj skills

what kinda DJ dont control the crowd..? :dahell:

you should be able to play whatever.. not to mention, you turned $300 to play a song for a few minutes.. but, your "integrity" dont stop you from stealing news, and thread titles from this site and posting them on your lil blog..

lol i've ran it back in my mind 300 times after .. i think i thought about it much more after the fact than in the moment. was a private event though .. to me it would have been disrespectful to throw out indie artists tracks at a private event.. where the event has an agenda already .. why throw out a random track that would have ppl looking at me like :what::dwillhuh::snoop::birdman:

I'm kind of confused, if it's all about payola, how come the "real hip hop" artists from NY can't get their label to pay the same way others do?

I'm not saying it's not payola going on but most these nikkaz complaining are signed to record labels

And whoever said World Star only charge a stack either got old info or World Star has changed tremendously over the past 3 months or so

I hit them up asking how to get my music on their front page

I didnt even bring up payola, simply asked how does an artist go about getting on the front page

And they replied with some automated email saying it was like 3-4 stacks to get a vid on their front page for a day

:dwillhuh: Inflation is a motherfukker

Just a couple years ago it was $700. I think they hit you with the price for the main banner. To get one of those top spots I know it was $3000. No way they're charging $3000 just for the regular shyt. Yeah actually now that I think about it b/c they said a day, that is fo the main top spot

Ehh if you're a good DJ, you could have def got the crowd back even if the song was weak. Also why not play it towards the end or something

Nah dude wanted it right in between french montana / drake n all that ... thats what indie rappers want .. they want u to drop their songs after u drop 'meek mill - dreams and nightmare intro' lol

they wanna see ppl jumping around to their record like they are drake to make them feel encouraged.. or hopefully that energy from a drake or meek mill song will transfer to them.

He walked away after 10 mins.

Makes sense, I think I still would have done it though. When you said it was a private event, how many people were in there? And did a majority of the ppl look sauced up cause tbh when you drunk, you don't gaf what music is playing

Nah you buggin, you should have at least listened to dudes song. Ain't nothing wrong with a dj breaking a new song from a new artist if it fits the mood of the event
