Because those people ignorantly thought that having a black president meant landmark tangibles for them specifically. Not realizing that he was still going to be an incrememental piece, preceded by others before him. Him being black was simply "good", for the step forward it represented in terms of representation, and that we could get there.

IMO, a lot of it is just people being radicalized by social media over time.

People hated Hillary since the 90s because she's a smart, confident white broad that's not eye legit pawg eye candy. Same reason white dudes hate on T-Swift but love Melania.
Orange fulfills their fantasy: a mediocre, lazy white man fumbling his way to the top. The issue is that Orange was born into privilege. Most of his supporters WERE NOT, so they can't ever achieve what he has. The Mediocre White Man is what most of these magats aspire to.
