Unlike the other guys before him, he came in low key. I liked that he had to hustle to become perfect, and that it didn't happen over night.
But yeah getting absorbed inside out, seems like a painful ass way to die.

Cell might've had the best backstory out of any character. Gero collecting DNA throughout time just to have a chance at creating Imperfect Cell, who had to go to another timeline just for a shot in the dark at absorbing both 17 & 18 to become perfect. The timeline Cell was originally born in had already been destroyed so he wouldn't even have any humans to absorb, only the Androids and maybe Trunks.
Outsmarted 17 and absorbed him. Used Vegeta's arrogance to be able to absorb 18. Bodied all the Z fighters, defeated Goku for fukks sake, and only lost to Gohan after a distraction from Vegeta and some helpful motivation from Goku.
Incredible writing for a kid's show. All the things that had to happen for Cell to fully power up weren't easy at all. And I agree, when you saw entire cities getting wiped off the map slowly but surely, that was some next level sh1t as far as violence and weird sh1t on TV goes for me.

Yeah lot of ppl say Frieza saga was GOAT but when it comes down to it the whole way the Android-Cell story arc unfolded was just amazing. The show should have ended there because that way the entire story culimnates in Gohan being the new hero of Earth.
Instead the story continues and Gohan becomes a fakkit, meaning all the character development for him since day one was pointless.

Well the whole Babidi thing leading up to releasing Buu was necessary if only show Goku vs. Majin Vegeta, one of the better fights. Gohan getting absorbed quicker than Gotenks was so cheap and kinda ruined the whole saga. Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta fresh outta hell vs. Kid Buu would've made for a much better end to DBZ.
Cell is GOAT though. Like dude said earlier, they had to kill him in 3 separate timelines to finish him off for good. Toriyama prolly took notes from Terminator and just upped the ante for DBZ

I'm pretty mixed on the Cell saga. It introduced a lot of dope characters (Trunks, 17 and 18, Cell, etc), but the heroes weren't on point.
All of Cell's comeups weren't really the result of his cunning so much as they were the results of the Z fighters making all of these really dumb decisions out of nowhere.
The thing that really brought the saga down was how a lot of the characters started falling off.

You know what, I fukkin agree cause if you really think about it if Picollo woulda just killed Gero during their fight NONE of that woulda happened.
Goku woulda recovered and they woulda eventually killed Cell when he woke up. Cause Cell was way too weak to even deal with Piccolo at that point.

If Krillin had actually gotten 18 out of there instead of checking her out on that
when he had the remote...If Trunks hadn't gone all Deebo and bulked up too much to the point that he couldn't catch Cell...
If Vegeta hadn't LET Cell absorb 18 just to have a stronger fight...
If Bulma had actually TOLD 16 that she removed his bomb...
If Goku hadn't given Cell a Senzu bean...
If Gohan had murked Cell when he had the chance right after going SSJ2...
EDIT: If Goku hadn't taken ten years to say his goodbyes before he teleported away with an about to detonate Cell...
If he had grabbed King Kai and TELEPORTED OUT OF THERE before Cell exploded...

Its a good thing that Goku got that heart virus, because he was nowhere strong enough to defeat 16, 17, or 18 when they were released. In fact, that ass whooping that Vegeta received made hum realized that the (untrained) SSJ wasn't enough and had to go to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to ascend. Even Cell at his first appearance would have giving the SSJs that work.
I like this saga the best to because of storyline, but namek is 2nd because there was more than 1 enemy to beat

Actually, the perfect Cell comes from a time where trunks actually destroys 17 and 18. Trunks was on his way back in time to tell Goku how to destroy them when cell came and absorbed him and stole the time machine. He actually regressed into his larva form to fit in the time machine. Remember Trunks and Gohan find that time machine and they also find cells shedded body as he was growing into imperfect cell.
