It was absolutely forced on some, some accepted it willingly, some actively sought it out and converted on their own, some where born into it and never questioned it.

Christianity predates slavery and was adopted in Africa before the Atlantic slave trade minus slave traders. 1sr 2nd century AD. You don't know who was Christian and who was not.

White people taught a b*stardized version of Christianity for mind control since black people in those times were not literate. If they were they'd see scripture that speaks of the kidnappers of men.

Once we were able to read English we came into a deeper understanding of the word.

Once we learned Jesus and the figures in the bible were black we had a stronger connection to the word and our place in this story since it's about us. We were told it was about them..

Seeing what happens when you move away from scripture is apparent in our people right now which strengthens belief it's not like we moved away from scripture and things got better.

This is correct, but unfortunately many of our black churches are led by c00ns. My church has the audacity to put up white Christian videos for us to watch in church I haven't been back since the pandemic. The biggest black male c00ns in our society is the black church decons and pastors the shyt is fukked up. And I say this as the son of a preacher. My dad not on that c00n shyt and preaches from the perspective of us being God's chosen people. Unfortunately I dont live in the same city as my father and cant attend his church. But as soon as I find an Austin area black church not led by c00ns me and my family will ne attending.

When every existing religion is technically not the “right” religion.. it seems better to create your own system of beliefs and practices to follow. I mean, that’s what religion is. You can believe in any god you want, eat pork or not, have a messiah that looks like Bob Marley, believe in hell, heaven, purgatory, reincarnation, 1000 virgins after death or whatever.

I get what op is saying. Why be a sheep when you don’t have to be one. I feel like people just get caught up in the number of followers a religion has and don’t want to be ostracized by their peers.
