I couldn't stand the politics..sh1t was disgusting. It was like everyone there was well versed in the political game, me being a young'n who was outspoken about things and marched to my own drum didn't help. Worked with mainly women though, it was fun.. yet the environment was catty. People treating you differently when your'e in a group setting, and then doing a complete 180 when you see them outside smoking a cigarette.
At one point when our account launched I was doing the majority of the work, holding our team by my own shoulders..literally staying in until 9PM some nights, I remember staying in until 11PM a few nights as well. Yet my salary was the same as all of the hoes who were doing a fraction of the work, and had no pressure on them. I never complained as it was promised that roles would switch etc. They never did. When you realize there's no real chance at advancement and that certain people who don't care half as much as you do, nor do half of the work..are already in line for promotions based soley on how well they suck d1ck or kiss @ss..you naturally just mail it in. It got to the point where I started streaming datpiff all day long, browsing while doing my work half asleep..and still making deadlines..yet because I wasn't doing it exactly how they wanted it, they found a whole bunch of excuses etc about how I coudln't "handle" it any more. When you give them a bit of evidence, they can find a whole lot of reasons to let you go..if they want to. They can find it on anyone though.
I always called out all the b.s though....when keeping it real goes wrong..lol. I was obviously seen as a loose cannon. I wasn't an angel, I took full advantage of the fact that my role was more important than anyone else..started coming in 10-15 minutes late in the morning etc (I was burning that midnight oil)..and got away with the lateness. A lot of people there commended me, yet, they couldn't fully go to bat because they didn't want to be seen in that same light. Which is understood.
The work is fine, it's the people that get disgusting after a bit. You realize though, that you could have made things easier as well...I've learned. You just have to play that game a tad bit..or else end up on the bench.
The nepotism can also be frightening. Yes, it can help you get in..yet when you see how some of the ppl there got jobs..based purely on relation. It can sting. Before I left they hired a girl who was FRESH out of highshool, literally a cpl months removed from graduating. She obviously had no experience...yet was handed a 40K + salary job with benefits..based on the fact that her mother had worked there for a decade. At the time I didn't really make anything of it, because I was in that rat race daily..yet looking back at it now..it makes you shake your head.
Irony is that I'm looking at another corporate job right now. I will be better equipped to handle it though, and I know the pay will be better.
