It happens, breh.

My electric bill for last month? $311. And none of it is past due. Oh... and it's for a 1bdr apt BTW

When i tell people im broke it means i dont have money to spend lavishly. I may let my checking account to reach less than $100 on a few occasions but thats only because i refuse to take money out of my savings to go to checking. I have automatic transfers set up to transfer money to my 2 savings accounts 6 times a month. Twice a month for one (every pay day) and every monday for the other savings account. I just manage the rest thats left.

But at the same time i know there are people out there really struggling. I could not be at peace knowing i dont have money for emergencies but some people are used to it

yall talk about what yall do
im sure other people talk like that too, they just dont do it

its easy to say "i'll put $175 every check, money i never see or touch"
but for some people to actually do it, that shyt is hard for them. saving $175, or getting that really cute outfit, or going out that night, or taking a quick trip

you cant take it with you

Its easy to save for me but its way easier to spend it. A nikka will save 200 or so a month for 3 months and buy a pair of shoes and a random electronic and poof. 3-4 months of saving done.

And how could they be happy staying in that area if the can't find a job there?

They move to the area that You're talking about because there are jobs there... that will make them happy

Im saying if u live in California or south texas by the border areas where the job market sucks or no jobs at all your savings won't be shyt...

Only this year have I learned to pay myself (save).

I could never save shyt because I always saved money for an event.....like buying a car, moving into a place.....for some sort of gratification, and afterward it was back to racks on deck again :lolbron: It finally got banged into my head that saving should be a lifestyle. Just do it because. Some people mature later bro. I know people in their 50s with nothing. As long as you figure it out in your 20s, you got time to get it right. Sometimes I be sad though. If I saved as little as $300 each month going back to when I was 18, I'd have $40,000 in my account :francis:

Folks don't know the basic rules. Pay yourself 1st (savings, investment, etc.). Then keep some pocket money. Then pay those bills, but shape those expenses around what you can afford.

But folks want that Benz though.

Now see here, if a feller wants that automobile than got dang it, let 'em buy it.

Yeah, I'm with @beaniemac on this one. When I say I'm broke, I'm out of discretionary income so I know I need to chill. In my early 20's I was making like 32k lived at home, drove a paid for used car, only had to pay my cell and insurance and never had ANY money in the bank.

Getting married and having kids had me re arrange my whole situation tho. All my savings is deducted right out of my paycheck and sent to a separate bank. And I NEVER carry that card around with me so I'm not tempted to do stupid stuff.

I always regret when I mess with my savings too, like back in november I changed my deduction so I'd have a lil extra $$ for Christmas. Yesterday I logged on to change my paycheck deduction back to normal and it hurt my soul seeing that new deduction amount .:sadbron:

Don't forget to invest in something. That 40K could be much more. Don't save just to save. Banks payin' .01% nowadays.

In a Benz with no money in his pocket, bank account, stock market, business? Not me.
