I'm dumb because I said people aren't making sound financial decisions??? Breh this thread had plenty examples of people who made x amount of money & still living check to check. Yes some people do have it rougher than others, but their is ALWAYS options to better yourself. ex, I saved up as much as I could until I started making more. You're sounding like this thread touched a nerve.
You're dumb because like I said everyone is not afforded the liberty of living at home, yet, you want to make like you were living on your own stacking cheddar. It's nonsense.

Breh their are plenty of people out there, NOT living at home & are still able to save their money. And you know why, they make sound financial decisions. Maybe you need to better the company you keep breh.

Everyone has different situations.

Could be child support, spousal support, prescriptions, paying nursing homes for parents, on disability, paying back debt et etc

Of course you can sit on a high horse with two incomes coming in every Two weeks and cast judgment.
Bold is true cause I don't care how cats doing with their finances since for the most part I'm not helping them in any way. If they ask cool but wondering how dudes bank accounts are doing I just don't care that's above my friendship pay grade.

It happens, breh.

My electric bill for last month? $311. And none of it is past due. Oh... and it's for a 1bdr apt BTW

When i tell people im broke it means i dont have money to spend lavishly. I may let my checking account to reach less than $100 on a few occasions but thats only because i refuse to take money out of my savings to go to checking. I have automatic transfers set up to transfer money to my 2 savings accounts 6 times a month. Twice a month for one (every pay day) and every monday for the other savings account. I just manage the rest thats left.

But at the same time i know there are people out there really struggling. I could not be at peace knowing i dont have money for emergencies but some people are used to it

$311 a month??? thats absurd. my electricity was $160 this month in the dead of winter for a full house, however, my heat was $350 this month also.

You had no argument to begin with. You come in here on your high horse talking bout what people should do, when you didn't even do it. I hate people like you.

When did I say people should do anything??? What is wrong about making sound financial decisions like making a budget for yourself, so that you see exactly where & what your money is going to. I make sure I write down what I spend daily & at the end of the week make the necessary adjustments for the next week & rest of the month. Don't act like people don't spend money or trivial bullshyt & then are complaining that they're broke until next paycheck. I've personally see a few friends do this. That's not being on a high horse, it's called being an adult & making mature moves.

That's a lie breh. I was making $7.25 coming out of college & I was able to save money. You have to know how to spend your money.

Right!!! And you lived where and ate what and got around how?

that's what I'm saying. Homeboy must have been "lucky" enough to live with his folks.

When I came out of college I was making 50K and was living paycheck to paycheck myself.

After taxes and 401K, 55K a year is about $2400 a month which doesn't take you very far in the DC area.

rent - $900
car - $200
insurance - $100
energy bill - $200
cable - $100
student loans - $200

that basically left me with $700 for gas, food, and (god forbid) emergencies.

thankfully I was able to get a new job within a year of my first job that paid 75K but up until then shyt was a struggle!

man, I agree with you. I have excel spreadsheets where I track my spending for all my accounts and write down ALL my expenditures. it sounds stupid, but it really helps me out in the long run.
