There are so many of us that came from “poverty” and being around others that look like us, in close proximity to each other but are doing quite well today. The environment can’t be an excuse. Everybody makes choices. Nobody has to be a “street nikka” just because they were born and raised in the hood.

I'm speaking more about who we commit these crimes against. There's nothing intrinsically black about it, they just happen to take place in predominantly black neighborhoods. My dad was on some "the black man is killing his own" type shyt and while I find the sentiment poignant, where else are brothers supposed to go to commit their crimes? I'd imagine that sort of appeal to racial solidarity is the last thing on a criminal's mind.

I agree external forces shouldn't be an excuse for the bullshyt though. There's gotta be some accountability and self determination. But people generally need strong, just and effective governance. It's been that way since the beginning of civilization.
