Afro latinos are far too c00nish for my liking. Sometimes I think of all the black people in the diaspora, African-Americans are probably the only ones to openly defy the western concept of beauty and truly love themselves. The others have been thoroughly brainwashed.

Just look at what theyve done to our brothers in the dominican republic? They'd rather accept they are related to rats than africans :scusthov:

I'm going to assume the ones you've met were. Or maybe you're making a broad generalization. Regardless, I believe you're off base. You can find examples of self hatred on both ends of the spectrum, we've all suffered deep seated trauma at the hands of the oppressor. You thinking one group has more issues than the other is part of the plan, brother.

I'm pretty new to these forum but lurk sometimes, and it seems are large part of yall are african americans.

How do yall feel about latinos who clearly have black in them saying they are just black?
Reason I ask is just cause I'm half latino but my latino side is black, if you didn't speak to my pops and heard his strong accent you'd think he was a black man not from latin america.

I always consider myself latino and most people just assume I am but I still know I have black in me and when I tell people I have black in me they're like ' :beli:, you aint black you're latino' , yea that's true but also my ancestors were slaves in south america .. I just don't like to deny what I am

Anyways, how yall feel about this ?

What is your other half/mother's ancestry? Personally I think socalled Afro Latinos should just claim their blackness considering the lainto identity/culture was imposed on them by their oppressors/slavors=Spaniard cacs....Being a proud black latino is the equivalent of a happy house negro

I feel like we win :win:

I have a black-American (or whatever the Race Police of the Coli like to call it nowadays) mother and a Dominican father, who is not dark at all.
I grew up with him so we've always had to give an explanation when we introduce eachother as father/son.

":dwillhuh: Thats... your... Dad??"
":leostare: So he's your... Son..?"

You get used to people's ignorance, it is what it is :yeshrug:

i just listed how so...

eat a latino dish pr/dr and go to a west african restaurant you will be hard pressed to tell the difference in most cases ....so the cuisine is heavily african influenced

the music---rhymthm and instruments such as drums and percussion are heavily african influenced and many dances derive from african dances such as the puerto rican folk dance called the plena even the worddrobe worn while doing this dance is african influenced

customs such as superstitions...in some cases greetings are african influenced

religion/spirituality....plenty of african witch doctor cusoms such as santaria are african influenced....

i can go and on....

the thing is Latino's are more in touch with their African roots than African Americans....from the food to the music to the traditions/nuances, customs, alot still practice african religions/ceremonies

This is exactly what i was gonna say.

i just don't like the self hate, like black dominicans trying to claim spain as their lineage, yea, ok, that's in you somewhere, but you are blacker than me (which isn't hard) and you gonna act like your ancestors weren't slaves/transported africans :usure:

but yea, yall got a lot of cliquish divisiveness on the east coast, growing up in cali was weird cuz you'd have tongans, samoans, filipinos, mexicans, vietnamese, cambodians, thai, and black folks who all at the end of the day was "nikkas"...it woulda been cool to have ricans and dominicans out in cali

edit: but props to brazilians and afro-cubans & mestizo cubans, in my travels, those two groups really connect with their african roots, take pride in being black, and went out their way to embrace me & my friends as original brothers & sisters by heritage, i didn't feel that in panama or PR

i hear ya' but everyone has to understand that willie lynch operated in the caribean and his influence was heavy there....so the divide of cultures is big...PR/DR has a riff and they are litterally side by side.....DR/Haiti share an island and have a riff...so if the islands are waring with eachother they aren't going to identify with outside countries/continents too much pride/nationalism ....

its 400 years of conditioning ....even their conditioning has been conditioned..

So much :duck: from nikkas trying to act like Afro-latinos aren't some of the biggest c00ns on the face of the Earth. nikkas darker than ME (I'm brown-skinned) try to tell me they're not black with their dark skin, big African noses and lips, etc. :obama2:

Sure, not all of them are c00ns, but it's a pretty well known fact that black Americans have a harder time denying their blackness (and in that group consists one of the largest contingency of c00ns on the face of the earth) than afro-latinos. Look at most Dominicans and tell me they aren't c00ns.

":whoa: slow down papi I ain't black I'm Dominican" :obama2:
