Ive been tired and depressed for a solid 8 years. fukk medication it does a crappy job of covering up serious problems. I want to learn some true healthy living tips from people who actually know what theyre talking about. I want to wake up feeling refreshed and positive, not dreading having to get up out of bed because i feel like i just came back from the vietnam war the last day. I dont want to have diarhea and gas, brain fog, headaches, exaustion, none of that mess. I want to feel comfortable in my skin physically, like actually just feel comfortable. I always feel kinda at edge and irritable even when im happy, when im happy i act like a jerk and when im sad i act like a despondent loner searching for purpose in life. I believe mental and physical health are completely intertwined, so ive decided its time to take a new approach to fix my problems

so what are the things one needs to do to be healthy? Positive thinking? Meditation? Exercise? Tea? Not eating preservatives? I know a decent amount about health given ive done lots of research on mental health and im good at biology, but i need the insight from someone whose really about that health nut life.

i respect the answers posted so far but theyre way less specific than what im looking for. i understand it takes a lot of motivation to make a 10 paragraph post outlining how to live healthily, so i suggest maybe posting where you get your info from, or atleast lead me to a place where theres info on this. Google helps but i want that insider info, like i want some nikka to comethrough with all types of crazy teas and meditation practices that OG health nuts know about

I briefly looked up this diet and it doesnt seem like a good idea, from biology i learned that eating too much meat is in the long term very risky. I know part of it is about cutting out carbs but carbs have a valuable role in our diets, theres a reason we are supposed to eat 8 servings a day.

weed keeps me permanently relaxed when i smoke daily. But it also makes my brain foggy, reduces energy, and motivation. IT also gives me weird side effects that most people dont get, and theyre very unhealthy. ITs possible weed played a big role in me developing bipolar.

well, i sleep a lot at night but i wake up and feel like shyt. Idk why because i sleep with a semi regular schedule unlike my friends who are all over the place. I smoke weed, which makes me feel groggy. I dont eat much and what i do eat is either snack food like crackers and stringcheese, frozen foods like pizzas and beef patties, and dinner which can be anything but is usually healthy with meats, veggies and carbs. I dont exercise on purpose persay, but i mow lawns and play ball with friends so id say im fairly in shape. But im actually reverting it seems, even though ive been cutting lawns for about a month now ive actually gotten weaker.

This where it can go left with people's beliefs:

Carbs aren't an essential macro and you don't NEED 8 servings a day of what people consider carbs traditionally.

gas can be caused a lot by what you're eating and the order you're eating it in. i actually used to get frequent stomach gas after every meal i ate (despite being a vegetarian, relatively healthy) and upon research, i changed a few things to help me out:

if you have the money, purchase the following vitamins:
b12
trace minerals
multi vitamin
spiralina (tablets)
vitamin d (if youz a nikka like me)
red reishi

be cautious of food sequencing... try to eat your meals in the order that they best digest. technically we should consume food in the following order:
1. Juices and Water
2. Soups, Fruits, or Smoothies
3. Vegetables
4. Grains, Starches
5. Beans, Poultry, Meat, or Fish

1 being the shortest to digest, 5 being the longest to digest. when you mix up your food consumption, it impacts your digestion process and is what leads to things like gas, smelly breathe, irritated stomach, etc. i try to avoid juices/carbonated beverages with my meal and finish a full glass of water before i eat anything.

as for mental health, exercise regularly, meditate (in a method that suits you best) at the start of your day and be weary of your diet. what you put in your mouth impacts you tremendously physically/mentally and emotionally. research different methods of meditation and figure out something that works best for you alongside how it best fits into your schedule. i suggest it being the first thing you do each day so you are in check with yourself fully before you begin a long day.

my mother's in the mental health field and i grew up with a very close family member who suffers from schizophrenia, so i really don't play with my mental well being. :yeshrug:

I feel better than before and during a checkup I told my doctor that I had changed my eating patterns and diet, and he was actually was doing the same thing and gave me a few recipes :pachaha:

It's not for everybody and there's alot of conflicting information on nutrition out there so I don't really worry about. If something doesn't feel right, I'll know

You're right. Mental and physical health are intertwined. The mind is connected to the body so when the body feels good the mind feels good and vice versa.

Exercise is key for me. It's a flat out MUST. I don't give a fukk if its a day I don't "feel like it" I DO IT ANYWAY!!! I switch it up too, not do the same routine over and over.

As far as diet I just make sure I don't eat more too much garbage (fast food) and stay hydrated.

Mentally I try to deal with whatever's goin on in my head instead of suppressing it. Get it out, tackle the issue and rise above the bullshyt.
