So you moved from DC up here ? For what reason ?
Nah breh have friends who actually moved to DC and are doing fairly well for themselves.

I just mentioned PG county as an example of black people dominating the landscape.

How old are you breh? Serious question no hate.

I live in Vaughan/Woodbridge we just bought a house there late last year.

Just got married this summer.

Have diversified my income streams and have other interests besides my fulltime job.

I'm a Director of Corporate Sales work right at King and Bay in the middle of the Financial district. Wife is a Director of Communications. Both of us are in our early 30s. We work hard.

At no point would I ever mistake Toronto for PG county where black people RUN THE PLACE from top to bottom.

@Emperor_ReinScarf posted statistic/studies/articles that reflect the HUMONGOUS wealth gap between whites and minorities in Canada (specifically African Canadians which speaks to alot of different groups)

This shyt is real man. This is not rhetoric. I'm happy that you are part of a diverse department. But I have 10 years of working experience in the Canadian market and BELIEVE me when i tell you that 90% of the time I am the only black man in the room.

Immigrants are overqualified and underpaid. While CACs get hired with little besides a social sciences degree.

Let's not turn the negative attention to the people who suffer discrimination and belittle them. THIS IS SYSTEMIC. A little job with the banks doesn't right the wrongs.

I'm just rambling but these are my 2 cents.

I'll add on later.

You like the few others have missed the point. I merely provided a suggestion. People leave countries because of corruption all the time this isn't some new phenomenon that I'm talking about.

LOL @ little job with the banks.

The black population is less so of course there going to be less of us in these jobs you speak of.

There are some people who are so fed up with America they want to leave. Some people hold more value in social issues then monetary things. I'm one of those people. I will not work for someone who calls me a ****** just because the job pays well. And that's basically my point.

As far as them wanting to stay and fight for their Country because they built it. I completely understand that logic.

I was more so just heated at how corrupt America is. And my family got the fukk up out of there when we had the chance and we made the right choice.

How can any person of color in Toronto say with confidence that there is NO discrimination when it comes to jobs.

Brehs have to scrape and fight to get entry level positions.

There is a HUGE professional underclass of non-white university graduates stuck in dead end customer service and retail jobs. We're talking people who speak and present themselves VERY well.

I'm shocked that anybody would miss that in this city or country by extension.

nikkas with Economics/Commerce degrees getting 16/hr as client care associates. While CACs get that cushy job at the advertising agency, cacs with no distinguishable experience or skillset.

My advice for youngins is to stop drinking the kool aid and believing the mainstream simplistic narrative.

The older you get the more attuned you will be to the fukkery that is happening before our eyes.

If i had a dollar for everytime I met a client who did a double take when they met me. I'd be a gazillionaire at this point :pachaha:

Edit: Networking as is the case anywhere else in the world is your lifeline.

It's literally the #1 reason you will get anywhere in a system rigged against you. YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE GAME.

Yup. I was a casualty breh. 3.7 GPA at McMaster, extracurriculars, accounting major and had to take this financial analyst job for a mere $16/hr wage and one year contract just for the experience. To go from I-Banking, Investment Management and Capital Markets Risk Management analyst interviews...even corporate HQ interviews to that was humbling. But I went in there, showed out, asked for a raise to $21 an hour after 6 months and got it :obama:.

shyt is just the beginning. What we really need to do is put people on that come after us. I dont even blame white people for doing it because its psychologically natural. Even my dad does it when he goes through resumes. But best believe if i make it and I see or recognize a black person for an interview i'll do my best to get him hired or refer him to another establishment for a job.

Dog grow up you're personalizing the fukk out of a serious discussion. That statement about discrimination was addressed to everybody.

Not every post is about YOU. I won't get into a back and forth.

But now that you bring it up, your posts while well meaning indicated a naivete and lack of awareness of the DEPTH of discrimination in the Canadian market specifically Toronto.

They don't need to be calling you a ****** sir, they can do it subtly through their hiring practices THROUGHOUT the economy across a multitude of different sectors and industries.

You took the racial makeup of your particular department and ran with that as if it was common place. It's not.

Go to every single canadian or american big company operating out of the GTA and look at their "About Us" section where the leadership bios are listed and tell me how immigrants stack up in that regard.

Who gives a shyt about entry level to mid level management positions? We're talking upper management/board of directors. There is a professional ceiling whether you choose to acknowledge it or not.

But don't take it from me, put in another decade in the market and you will grow wiser for it. TRUST me you GON LEARN.

All is not lost, I refuse to be defined by these statistics and numbers, however I NEVER lost sight of SYSTEMIC discrimination that my people and others that look like them suffer.

We have to work twice as hard and be twice as qualified for every opportunity we are up for. It's not equal footing, it NEVER was.

Breh you quoted me right before this post basically saying the same shyt.. How was I supposed to know it want addressed to me. :what: when I made this thread and when I been defending myself the last few pages

U grow the fukk up and relax urself. A simple "I wasn't referring to you" would of been enough .

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Racism is everywhere but there's levels.

Making the move to Canada from America was hard for my folks I'm sure, but at the end of the day they did what they felt was right and I'm glad I don't have to deal with racism at that level..

That's unfortunate that you would literally ignore the entire post to focus on what addresses you and what doesn't.

Anyway take what I say and observe your surroundings and hopefully you can come to understand what truly is occurring below the superficial words and politics.

Hopefully the brehs that wanted to be schooled on TO from a job market perspective will find my posts helpful.

:salute: to @Emperor_ReinScarf for the TO roll call.

We here.

Everything you said was said already so I dismissed it. :yeshrug:

And It doesn't pertain to the premise.

you live in toronto, move to any other city in canada and tell me how sweet it is
not every state/city ina merica is bursting at the seams with racial tension.

Toronto, montreal, ottawa, deadmonton are really the only cities in canada with a sizeable black population

this is like me living in washington dc or atlanta georgia and saying how great it is for black people because some nikkaz are prospering at chase bank or whatever.

canada is 80% wite

go anywhere a hour and a half outside of the gta and youll be the only nikka for miles, and it aint sweet

I remember a few months ago I got a job over in some city in saskatachewan that 0.00003% black folks, i'm sure I would have been received with open arms if i accepted it
