they are fukking morons. they bid against themselves to pay again for a guy who's played 63 total games in 4 seasons talking about
"we don't need a pick for this guy who's never available".
Giddey only looks good with at max 1 other shot creator/ball handler when he doesn't create offense off the bounce for him self well enough to be a #1.
Coby can shoot so you can pair him with anyone and he can figure out how to score. Giddey is limited offensively and defensively, so it's really playing with fire trying to force building around him. Coby isn't good defensively either, so you already have to over compensate for that defensively from jump with both of them.

which means AKME would be a complete idiot to re-sign him without forcing him to find his own deal first.
I mean if hes only making 30 mil how would that stop the team from adding talent or moving off of him in the future. Thats not a huge contract atm considering perennial losers like Booker bout to get damn near 80

Amazing how Josh Giddey is like 10% as athletic as Ben Simmons but because hes willing to brick threes and practice free throws we have this thread
Giddey's limitations are glaring enough to have some reserve. At worst he probably needs to be the secondary ball handler to get the most production out of. Which is fine for Chicago because they settle for mediocrity annually. I'd just say, in the event they do add legitimate talent along with Matas who's really showing he can do more on ball, is Giddey still going to have this kind of impact?
This is similar to when the Bulls re-signed Vuc. He put up solid numbers, but due to Vuc's limitations the team is stuck being mid in PnR defense, stuck without having more rim protection, stuck without having a lob threat etc. You get Vuc's steady double double output, but the team's ceiling is capped because you just don't have the dynamic big front court play to really disrupt other offenses.
I'm just tired of this team committing to limited players for long deals. They're close to being done with Vuc who was ok as a team defender, now they're going to commit to another guy who is suspect on that end of the floor who will be tasked to defend on the perimeter... when we already have Coby who isn't great on that end either.
Also, the style of play that Billy is pushing for simply does not work in the post-season and if Giddey isn't drawing fouls and getting to the line, he looks bad out there.
