What is the ceiling for a Josh Giddey lead team?

  • Top 4 in the Conference and Contending for Championships

  • 5th or 6th Seed at Best; Annual 2nd Round Exit

You should spin-off this thread and ask the Coli the same question with Scottie Barnes.

It's not like Toronto's path forward is set at all. If you don't get a top 3-5 pick this year... meh

We're in good hands

Brandon Ingram
Scottie Barnes
RJ Barrett
Immanuel Quickley
Jakob Poetl
gradey dikk
agbaji
shead
ja'kobe walter

Yeah, man please go make that thread. Really curious to see what NBA fans feel towards what Toronto is doing and if Barnes is good enough to build a title team around.

gidey would def work in orl.. almost word 4 word what I said.. and he's not the best player on the team. sas interesting too
You like Giddey's fit with Fox? I get it with Wemby because pairing him with protection behind him is ideal, but Fox's usage is closer to the 30s and we've already seen how Giddey looked playing with SGA who was 30+ in his most recent years.

:patrice:

I think Coby White fits better with Orlando than Giddey. They need scoring in the worst way

This is being overblown. Especially this season. His USAGE% is 21. Coby White and Vuc have a higher %... LaVine was at 26%... for context Shai is at 33% this season.

It's true that Giddey needs more of a balance in touches to unlock him. You can pair him with other creators, because we're seeing him play with one now in Coby White.

We've also seen that he doesn't look as good with 2 other perimeter players with high usage rates. So knowing that, Chicago should construct a roster around him that keeps him at the least the primary or 2nd ball handler.

Out of every player in the NBA that's played at least 64 games this season, Giddey isn't even listed in the top 141 in usage rate %... I think the Bulls system fits his style of play, they just need to add a rim running big and more 3 and D talent at the forward positions
I stand by everything I said. The problem with giddey is his shot is so slow that a simple close out throws him off his rhythm

I'm leaning towards wanting to lose in the Play-In, keep the lottery pick. That OKC game is how things look for him vs teams that know his tendencies and weaknesses (AKA Playoff level game planning).

:francis:

March was fun, but his set shot just isn't there yet to really open things up offensively over the course of a series against a prepared defense. Was entertaining the thought of the benefits of making the playoffs just to see how he'd perform and tying his value to that, but I don't even care anymore. We good.

It was clear from the jump last night too. OKC knew to play him tight and close out and he wouldn't be able to get his shot off.

That's why I had to shut down the "Diet Luka" comparison. Giddey has NO bag off the dribble. None. You close out on his catch and shoot opportunities and you eliminate any chance of him stretching the floor. Not even lying.
