Kids learn differently. Be patient and dont let him see you frustrated. It may take some time but ull figure out how to make it click for him. One of my sons struggled with numbers and math so my then bf was a gambler and really good at math so he pulled out the dice. Some kinda way my son got good at math by shooting dice idk what he told him but he never brought home any more failings in math. My daughter was 3 reading sales papers using words we didnt normally use shyt was weird but i was grateful.

He probably has a different learning style and what you're doing with him isn't really appealing to him.

He could also have a learning disability, does he have an IEP?

He may be a kinesthetic/tactile learner....(many boys are)

he may need to touch a cat while saying the word cat....

he may need to pretend like he's a cat and crawl around on the floor slinking like a cat in order to remember

He may need to draw a cat or do a finger painting of a cat....

you have to try non-traditional ways to get him interested...

Yeah try not to get to frustrated. Also did he and your daughter have the same type of early exposure to education? Any family problems with you and his mom that could be causing him to act out or not want to learn? Also are you the only one trying to teach him things outside of school?

I go thru this with my older daughter...she's about to be 8 and my middle child is 5 and seems to be ahead of her..and it's very frustrating because I've always been a gifted student so I never understood how ppl didn't "get it"

When she was in pre k all I heard was how ahead she is how smart she is etc...she went to kindergarten and started struggling

It's tough as fukk and when it's simple shyt she's not getting I can feel myself getting mad like :mindblown:
