:disgustya: @ using jealousy as your guiding philosophy on how the world should work.

If someone having a billion dollars makes you angry, who is really the bad guy in the equation

You're an idiot who has no sympathy for minorities suffering in the ghetto.

Personally i never lived in the ghetto or suffered from poverty at all so i have nothing to be jealous about.

Money = resources so you can be sure things won't be getting better for people on the bottom.

As long as those at the top have that much wealth hoarded things will never change.

No, actually I have plenty of sympathy for people "in the ghetto". When's the last time you volunteered/donated/did anything but use these people as a proxy to rationalize your hatred of the rich?

Not being from the ghetto != being rich (and please stop using the term "ghetto")... unless you are a billionaire or something you have plenty to be jealous about.

Money = resources so you can be sure things won't be getting better for people on the bottom.
There's way more to it than that. Here's the great irony. We throw hundreds of billions of dollars at poor people all the time through welfare programs, and yet poverty still persists. So clearly just arbitrarily throwing money at the poor is not the solution. Poor people need education, jobs and economic opportunities so that they aren't perpetually dependent on entitlements. And we don't need to take all the wealth from the rich to do that.

As long as those at the top have that much wealth hoarded things will never change.
Again the idea that money is a finite zero sum quantity is false and displays a gross misunderstanding of how money and the world in general works.

I'm not a billionaire but i'm far from the bottom so i certainly have nothing to be jealous about.

As for solutions, which you offered none of in your post.

The hoarded money could be reinvested into education, science (medicine, alternative energy, space, etc), and infrastructure.

That's all been stated already in this thread.

Sure you have plenty to be jealous about. Unless you are at the point where you don't have to work, you have plenty to be jealous about in regards to billionaires. That's the only explanation I have for why you would take such a shaky stance built on false premises. I.e. you speak of rich folks getting their money by "hoarding" it as though rich people don't work or invest and earn their money, ever.

And I did offer a solution. More investments into education and job placement/public work programs for the poor. The difference is I don't think we have to go after money rich people already paid taxes on to do it. Rich people already pay the majority of taxes, do the lion share of investing and generally drive the economy with their contributions... so putting even more of a burden on them is stupid. What we can do though is reappropriate money we are already using and put it to better use. Instead of spending a trillion dollars a year on the military we can spend that on education. Keep welfare around, but make it a public work program for people who are able to do so. Like you said we need to invest in infrastructure... why not employ the people on welfare to help with some of that? Expand Medicare/Medicaid into a single payer program anyone can enroll in. Etc. etc. I'm tired of brehs using poverty as a backdrop for exacting revenge on people with more money than them. We don't have to go after the rich to solve every problem.

I don't credit the wealthy who give to charity with anything, really. Charity only perpetuates the system, and it is a good PR stunt (admittedly, it helps a handful of individuals. But individuals are not entire classes/groups of people...). There needs to be wealthy people who give to causes advocating systemic change instead of surface or cosmetic changes.

And u didn't answer my question about what u are doing to address poverty when u log off, since it's such a major issue for you.

I go out of my way to coach High School basketball and my players are from the ghetto.

I take players who have no money out to eat and pay out of my own own pocket.

I try my best to educate kids from the hood that they don't have to kill each other over hip hop culture.

Im glad you live what you talk. Still doesn't make demonizing the rich right though.

:lupe:how about we don't give the poor education, jobs or economic opportunities :youngsabo:

that way we can just justify shutting down the welfare programs and off them :ld:

with me i ain't gonna lie. i don't and would never do charity work. i aint even gonna lie. i ain't got time for enough time for myself let alone give my time up for some charity shyt. labor is expensive:stopitslime:. and i'm not even built like that. maybe some other folks got time for that shyt.

i give discounts to church folks but that's about it. but just straight up cash :usure:you ain't getting a dollar out of me.

i've damn near died getting robbed $220.

i get very offended when poor folks rob me. poor folks don't even touch rich/elite folks cause rich folks put up laws to heavily punish them.
