I don't understand this at all. There would no Ferg if not for Rocky. To me, Ferg is just a watered down version of Rocky.

But I'm willing to see how Ferg is better than Rocky. Please explain.

they're not even similar, how is ferg watered down

ferg has a voice and saaaangs, rocky mumbles

his mumble flow is cool though :leon:

I know the albums are weak. I was probably the first person to tell people this. I know when Rocky drops hot shyt and when he drops mediocre or wack shyt. I'm not some deluded listener that accepts everything an artist dose as gospel.

i feel that Rocky can drop more fire for his albums. i prefer the tape over his albums sometimes but yeah he a good artist but he needs to drop some fire on an album like he did on the tape. i'll still cop and support his shyt tho.

rocky and ferg are them nikkas in ny right now

bodega bamz... :ld: hit or miss

gotta give dave east a chance, been hearing a lot about him

Pretty much this. Steez and Joey together would've been a force

Considering that Rocky put Ferg on and that whole ASAP Worldwide brand rests on Rocky's shoulders, you just can't say Rocky sucks while being a huge Ferg fan. Ferg couldn't put himself on.

Rocky came out with the Bone Thugs flow mixed with a whole bunch of shyt. Ferg came through with the Bone Thugs flow. Full stop.

They use some of the same producers: VeryRvre, P On the Boards and Clams Casino.

It's the same sorta sound. It's just that Ferg goes into a more "turn up" direction while Rocky is cooler and artistic (but can still turn up, and when Rocky turns up, it's that dark 3-6 vibe. Not the modern trap shyt).

Rocky's sound and aesthetic is more dimensional to me. He has the turn up joints like Pretty Flacko, the 'jiggy' dance tunes like Goldie and Trilla, while also rocking the super laidback dreamy shyt like Leaf or Demons.

Ferg can't do that. Ferg = Shabba, and "Work" depending on if you like that track. He's a one-note rapper.

production is a problem, nikkas tryna sound like other shyt instead of being innovative when it comes to making radio hits, just like atl has their select group of go-to producers like mike will, metro, tm88, zaytoven, southside etc ny needs something like that, nikkas need to start crossing that george washington bridge and going to whoever is lacing fetty wap with all them hits:mjpls:

as far as actual rappers go, only nikkas I care for in the new generation are dave east and asap rocky/ferg and im still not sure whether dave east has the ability to make hit records, he can rap for sure but thats not everything

It's not the same thing. You know this breh.

ASAP Ferg was handheld like a mothafukka. His first two singles and notable singles, "Work" and "Shabba" were both featuring Rocky. Rocky took a brief break from music in that period to make sure that if there was anything new Rocky, it was coming through Ferg.

i see what you're saying but all that doesn't matter

You know :myman:

The NYC scene really only consist of Rocky and I suppose a argument could be made for Joey Badass and Ferg.

Unfortunately, it's 2016, not 2011 or 12, so guys like Bodega Bams, FBZ, or Underachievers have been missed their window. Ain't nobody checking for them now. Also, I think it's to early to pass judgment on Dave East, but I'll admit that what I'm hearing from him at the moment isn't too encouraging.

However, I do like Tray Pizzy and I think he has a good shot at getting himself over. Oh, and I also enjoy $ha Hef/Retch, but I doubt they will go anywhere significant.

In conclusion, with only a few relevant acts thriving, the scene is pretty insignificant, but I don't think that should surprise anyone who lives in NYC, at all. Because the culture in NYC is not demanding classic NYC sounding music or more original sounding music, they're demanding the music that ATL is supplying, thus it's only logical to expect that NYC scene would be in this state.
