I'm not superstitious, I don't think what I say or do will have any effect on future occurences and beyond that, I do think Dwight is going to end up with the Lakers so there's no jinx or anti-jinx going on. I just don't think adding two more 1st option players is going to fundamentally change the way Kobe and the team run the offense. They're both going to fall in line.
As for the open shots, if Kobe wanted open looks, he'd be getting them. He prefers to score mano y mano. He likes the added difficulty. If he comes off a screen and has a wide open shot, where is the challenge? Better yet, where is the excuse if he misses it? It sounds ridiculous but I really think he is more comfortable shooting when he is sizing someone up and/or has an added difficulty factor. If he makes it, he's amazing. If he misses, he's amazing for even having the confidence to attempt such a shot. Look how often the ball is kicked out to him and he hesitates when he receives the ball and waits for the defender to close. When they don't close, he seems to usually throw up a very flat shot and doesn't make nearly as many as it seems like he should. He's been playing that way his whole career and I don't see him suddenly doing a 180 now.
