How do you punish an athlete who sacrificed his body for your team? Make him PAY for college.

U of M kicker receives death threats
Updated: Mon, Oct 19 2015, 06:02 PM

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) – The University of Michigan’s kicker, Blake O’Neill is receiving death threats for his dropped ball in Saturday’s last second loss to rival Michigan State.

The ugly downside to incredible rivalry games like the one on Saturday is that there is always a small portion of the losing fan base that just does not deal well with defeat. Now, thanks to social media and online message boards, these fans now have a forum to express their displeasure.

Shortly after the botched punt attempt led to a game winning touchdown on Saturday a number of fans crossed a line with their comments.

The tweets Newschannel 3 put on air are fairly benign, but others not so much, including one from someone who suggested that O’Neill, “jump off a cliff into a pool of spikes and cyanide.”

There were also tweets from people threatening to kill O’Neill, or suggesting that he kill himself instead.

Michigan’s Athletic Director Jim Hackett was not at all happy about the situation. He released an open letter to Wolverine fans that said in part;

“Today I awake to the shocking reality that our community, who care so much about this program, would send hurtful, spiteful and vicious comments to one of our students. To be clear, such comments come from a small minority, none of whom are reflective of our institution.”

Hackett also asked; “that our community not lose this game twice by condoning thoughtless comments.”

How much is the summer session at O$U for an out of state student? Not completely an equivalent but this is like the league fining someone $20k ?

Edit: looked it up. Let's say he takes 12-18 credits. That's $13k

That's kinda stiff for someone who can't get a job and trying to go to school. Ole Urb

Urban did it before to another player, thats why JT got it and if it happens again that player will get the same.

Ohio State taking away QB J.T. Barrett's scholarship for semester due to impaired driving incident

Urban Meyer discussed the incident at a press conference Monday. This is not entirely unprecedented. Buckeyes Jake Stoneburner and Jack Mewhort lost their scholarships for a semester in 2012 after being arrested for evading police.

It is unclear how someone can pay for two months of a semester of school, given that OSU already "paid" for his scholarship, so maybe this refers to next semester.

I hate osu but wow....this kid goes to your school, BEASTS. Fills stadiums and gives up his body for you and he makes a mistake....and he's gotta fukkin pay for school? Never heard of some shyt like that. That's pretty fukkin low even for them.

you the same nikka popping champagne hoping a college athlete suffers a major injury now you on this gimmick? :heh: :camby:

Hope he tears both acls and shatters his ribcage in week 1 of conference play.

Idgaf how that makes me look

Nobody takes 12-18 credits in the summer. Usually at most 6, some only take 3 credits, some don't take classes at all (worked for an athletic department before so I know).
