It really depends.

If they're heading in the right direction, I will support them in what way I can. I like to think that people set high goals to motivate themselves. With time, they settle on what is realistic.

If they're heading in the wrong direction, I say my piece and provide support when they hit a wall.

I would say go for it. You never know. I once told my friend goals and he looked at me funny and said, get a real job. Right now I am doing exactly what I said I would do, and I know he is embarrassed that he was so negative.

No matter how outlandish someones goals seem, keep it to your thoughts to yourself....unless he starts asking for money or moaning to you about it, that is.

I used to date a girl that told me she didn't have time for me to start making money while I was in culinary school. Now I'm living good with someone else and she lives hood adjacent with 3 kids and no man. You never know what a person's motivation could be

I think the most important part is to not discourage them. The support they get from people close to them might push them to go harder. Hell you might be the only person that believes in his goal but at least somebody seems to believe it. Could be big for him

I thought you were going to say something about being a famous rapper. How is IT unrealistic?

I know many people who worked at Amazon, used them to get free IT courses or other free courses offered and then quit when they completed and found a higher paying job. That was completed in less than 5 years.

My response to my peoples goals after letting them know I’m happy for them/supportive is “what are the steps you’re going to take to get there?” “What actions have you taken so far to work towards that goal?” “If you haven’t started yet why not and when will you start?” Then I would ask them about it every so often to try to make sure they’re working at it or see if that’s what they still want.

I am usually optimistic and a pretty positive person. A good friend/relative too.You sound terrible, definitely not someone I would want around me.
