Yes. Despite their lust and greed they see Trump as a far greater threat to their system than even the Dems. They like their corruption and racism covertly that lulls people to sleep. Look at how much potential change is coming from Trump's destruction? Look at all the $ he's cost them. Him splitting the party and helping suppress their own voters cost them the Senate. What happens if Trump runs 3rd party and the GOP is neutered and the Dems get a firm grasp on the Senate? Comprehensive change that could if wielded right keep Dems in power for decades via expanded voting rights, healthcare, etc.
republicans are going to double down on racism.... as unbelievable as it sounds, it's true, trump went from 63m votes to 74m votes, and a meager 45k votes away from reelection... trump has received the 2nd largest amount of votes in amerikkkan history... yes, even more votes than obama.... granted, some of that has to do with population increases and mail in voting, but still... and yes, biden did get 82m votes, but he really only won the electoral college by 45k votes... republicans are not convicting donald trump.....

I don't think enough Republicans will vote to convict. But it's not entirely impossible. Either way Republicans lose when you think about it. Convict and turn off a huge voting block, or vote against it and now you have to deal with him potentially running again in 2024 as a 3rd party candidate and taking away your votes.

:laff: @ cats that thought that there would be a significant number of repigs that would vote to convict trump..... only five repigs even voted that they feel the impeachment was constitutional.... of those five, subtract 3 or 4 as votes to convict.... at best, at the very best, there might be a huge, gargantuan, humongous number of ..... two.. two repigs that vote to convict... lol... truth be told, it might not even be two, but it won't be more than two.... it ain't happening, repigs ain't convicting trump on anything....

They always come back to Trump like a battered woman, no matter what. The insurrection was Trump snapping and beating the woman into a coma. After a few weeks she woke up, left the hospital and came back to him.

The last two major public hearings, Kavanaugh and Trump, the Republicans made sure to control how much damaging info was released. As soon as things that might make the person look bad came up they pulled rank and voted.

This time the Dems have control of what evidence is released.
