A lot of these cats just aren’t worth the $40+ million dollar a year contracts they are getting and essentially become burdens on a team. You will end up having to trade one bad contract for another.

Only a select few in the NBA are truly worth it and unfortunately Russ isn’t one of them. They really have to do some about it during the CBA. The influx of cash in the league has been a benefit for the players, but also a detriment in a few ways as well.

By what metric isn't he "worth" the money? He guarantees people in the seats and a playoff appearance. I bet the Wiz get more nationally televised games than they have previously.

He's not worth decimating and hamstringing your cap over as you can't win with him as your best and highest paid player.

Supermax contracts are a burden on a teams cap space.

That's a CBA issue, not a player value issue. Teams shouldn't be penalized for retaining their elite talent, and elite talent should be paid their worth. Why are we arguing for billionaire owners to keep more money?

Who is arguing about billionaires keeping more money? It's a burden on a teams cap space if that player is not worth that contract. It's just Russ who isn't worth it, but other players as well.

It becomes a player issue when they become untradeable because of it or a journeyman in Westbrook's case. Which is why I said the money is both a benefit and hinderance to them. He essentially has no say so now in where he is traded.
