How does Drake get credit for "making hit records" when he doesn't write or produce?

Pretty much

I wouldn't believe anything he says unless I was there watching him create it

The nikka used a reference track FOR 1 VERSE

:russ:

That suggests he ain't writing A gawtdamn thing

None of these kids care either

I agree that this topic is old now though

Just call that nikka P.Diddy Jr and let's move on

Being a "real emcee" means nothing in 2015.. When Pharell talks about the concept of "New Blacks" there is also an entity that can be described as "New Rap".. Drake is the leader and king if this genre..

The rules are being rewritten ever day.. We just have to accept that the genre has evolved to something that's unrecognizable to the purists..

I just hate when people are lazy and refuse to break things down in specific categories...

Like Drake, Pac and Rakim all talk over beats so they are running the same race... Naw breh, there are levels to this hip hop sh1t.. You can respect everyone for doing well in their own lane without just clumsily lumping them together..

I hate lazy comparisons and broad generalizations more than anything..

THIS is what I don't get. :mindblown:

Writers/Producers don't get the credit they deserve... but that's neither hear not there. The fact that Drake gets a pass because he makes hit records contradicts the whole premise of him not writing his own music. SOMEONE ELSE is making the hit records. Drake just mimics someone's hits.

This isn't like R&B because a singers voice can change the whole make up of a song. Rap is different. Lyrics and hook instrumentals. Drake doesn't have the best voice, flow or delivery. In fact he borrows flows depending on what record he jumps on. So how does one get credit for "making hit hit records" :dahell:

Lauren Hill caught back lash because it came out she didn't write/produce her debut record. She was never the same after that. I know I'm beating a dead horse but gotdam the ignorance is so blatant its hard not to go :wtf:
You are totally off base. If this is true then those Quentin Miller records and the writer himself should be a star especially now that he is exposed. But he isn't and won't be and hearing his version of the songs anyone with honest ears can say why. But let's pretend this ain't so.

Drake is a good entertainer and will continue to prosper because not everyone is invested in keeping it real or acting like purists. Most people could give a fukk about who wrote what. He is in the same lane as Kanye at this point they have become pop icons. And don't come in here talking about yeezy produces because this ain't 5-10 years ago

This is the mentality of today's rap fan.
Sales... Drake doesn't make much money from "sales". Cash Money and Baby is taking most of that. His WRITERS and PRODUCERS are getting some more of that seeing how he would own most of his publishing.

So "winning" is via endorsement deals which has nothing to do with music... and as far as "popularity" that's relative. Name me 10 people who know who Drake is and I can name you 10 who don't. This is about the MUSIC. If being a fraud in hip hop is cool then so be it. But don't try to say he "makes hit records" when he doesn't write or produce jack shyt.

Youre an idiot

Youre probably one of the people who think that just because jimmy iovine invested tons of money into drake that he will use his connections to make sure this stuff blows over

He wrote for Rita Ora , Beyoncé , Alicia keys Jamie foxx ... Should I go on

Has he written raps for any rap nikkas? We care about rap, not a nikkas R&B abilities. And just cuz Drake is listed as a writer doesnt mean Hush didnt write it anyway. Y'all still ignoring that QM wasn't credited on every song he did:russ:

:sas1: EXACTLY..

The sad part is fans don't know the difference. Being a rapper isn't about being an artist no more. It's about acting out a lie. Teh problem with this is that it destroys the integrity of the genre as a whole. If fans don't care if someone writes then that's a clear indication that they don't respect the art of being a lyricist. Radio DJ's are mouth pieces for the stations who only care about advertising revenue. They don't give a shyt of a dog can bark on a track. As long as its a "hit" they will defend it. Other rappers won't call out fukkery like this because they only care about money. A classic example of selling out. They all on his tit just to make a quick buck. It's a slave mentality. Nas pointed this out on Black Zombies.

When you hate a nikka, you really don't care about making logical conclusions about them. Even if the ref tracks didn't come out, I think people would still find ways to cry over this nikka :francis:
And even if Aubrey said

"there are people very financially invested in me that will prevent me from failing, even after I reveal now j have never written a song in my life"

There will be stans, much like you, to :cape:

:mjlol:

These stans are hilarious. Just when you think you've seen it all they do it again!

Defend your rappers ability to write rhymes by citing r and b artists he has written for, brehs

You can still give Drake credit for performing the songs and for choosing the best songs to lipsync.

Like I said, nikkas wanted Iggy out the game for SUPPOSEDLY not writing her shyt...no legit rumors gaining traction, no reference tracks, just the assumption that she couldn't be because being white and from Australia probably meant she didn't have an organic relationship with this culture and has probably been coached to act and play the part. nikkas gave Nicki props for reaffirming that "I write my own shyt" and celebrated it as a shot at "igloo"...but now it doesn't matter....I mean Michael Jackson didn't write all of his songs either!

:mjlol:

What is the real difference between her and Drake? I mean besides one of them having all of those allegations confirmed/supported by actual evidence?

Who's ghost writing his N words? :laff:

I think Drake is way more talented than Iggy.. Even if his only talent is karaoke.. It's undeniable he has records that people love.. Hell he has sh1t that I love, even with the full understanding that he's a fraud..

I just don't categorize it as hip hop.. Honesty Drake is his own genre.. 50% of his hits are legitimate R&B songs.. We have never seen an artist like him before, which is why I think its lazy and a disservice to compare him to people who "just rap"...

Drake and Kendrick aren't even in the same solar system.. It's almost like comparing Adam Sandler to Daniel Day Lewis, just because they both have the title of "actor"...

Iggy just sounds terrible to me, no matter what genre she claims to represent
