I doubt most of us now will be witnessing designer babies to the extent of 6'8ft, insane intelligence, insane strength, etc... In our natural life times.

Genes/DNA isn't exactly static either and there are a lot of genes/alleles that influence multiple characteristics in a human so it would not be as easy as flipping a switch.
