So they were just supposed to stay that price forever?

Despite the fact that NYC is one of the biggest and most popular cities in the world?

So property owners were supposed to take decades of losses as property values (and the ensuing taxes) skyrocketed?

You keep saying my way of thinking is outdated, but the more you talk i realize that your way of thinking leads to my kids starving.

You should let one of the HL dweebs be the socialism guy, at least they can quote some babble from some book that sounds good in theory even if it never works in practice.

Yeah, that way, local business thrive due to people having more disposable income. People paying 50% or more on rent every month just leads to stagnation and lack of confidence of social mobility. But you dont believe in checking greed.....just infinite growth from you idols, the CEO and other crooked business owners and landlords.

Cone to the HL, and really get your viewpoint pushed in.

The school system in black & Latino neighborhoods aren't preparing kids for science, technology & math. It's non-existent.

Honestly, it fails white kids too. They are the majority so they will always have numbers on the strength of that. African, east Asian and south Asian kids eat their breakfast.

You can't study for math like other subjects. Only way to improve is to sit down and work problems. Kids wanna shortcut it like it's history class....never works.

Plus we don't push it hard enough at an early age. My mom had my azz doing basic arithmetic by age 3 and was teaching me fractions at age 5.

Got a friend from India and his pops had his azz doing calculus by 6th grade. When he got to middle school, it was just a repeat of what he already knew. He spent 7th grade through his sophomore year of college just rehashing what he'd already been taught about Algebra, geometry, linear algebra (matrices and vectors), multivariable calculus etc. Nothing was really new until he hit Discrete Math.

I also remember dudes grades weren't that great to begin with.

Maybe he should have figured out earlier that maybe being a dentist wasn't his calling.

Or if he was really set on it, picked up a trade to help mitigate the debt he was incurring while chasing his dreams.

Instead he and his wife will be saddled with a mountain of debt that'll take a lifetime to pay off and his children will suffer because he "chased his dreams" to the point of stubbornness and stupidity.

That’s what I’m saying about the stem thing, the debt wouldn’t be no where near his, but there are people that don’t even want to do stem and try to do it, but can’t, then they have to pick something else because they already spent so much time in college already.

Even if the dentist dude quit after the first 2 times he didn’t pass, he still has to pay the debt for those classes he took whether he’s a dentist or not.

No when you say trade, are you specifically talking electrician or plumbing? I don’t think he would have had the time to do a trade and the dentist thing at the same time.

I also think that many students should do that if they can’t get a job, but for some reason I never hear about students doing that.

All I hear students say is that they struggle and can’t find jobs, why don’t they just go to trade school or back to get an AS in something that will pay?

Idk I’m rambling a little bit.

You know why tuition is so high?

Because the Government stepped in and took it upon themselves to guarantee every student get federally backed loans (which you can't default on).

Now this isn't in and of itself a bad thing, but people being people tried to take the easiest route they could take and started flooding easy majors.

The increase in demand led to an increase in prices. The flood of people with the same degrees competing for a limited amount of jobs lead to a decrease in wages.

Most of the time you see people getting fukked en masse, there was a feel good government initiative behind it

The wealth gap correlates with the (academic) achievement gap. Doesn't affect whites because they dominate industries and institutions in America...for now. The kids dominating academics will eventually unseat the white dominance in certain fields though. The backlash against Indians,Nigerians, and East Asians is right around the corner. Whites have been coasting and getting by on skin privilege.....they're like zoo animals.Put them in the wild, and they wouldn't survive.

Exactly!!

On top of that if you’re from the hood, you got every teacher telling you that you have to go to college, even if you’re making $20 an hour, that’s not enough you need that degree.

Then you got other students and people your age calling you a bum because you’re not in college.

It’s a fukked up cycle, everyone thinks a degree will get them a decent job, but that’s not the case and no one is really hearing about it until more recent times.

Black people have a complex where they have to show off. A nikka working manufacturing can't just put his pay stub or steel toes on fb and get 100 likes like someone with a psychology degree can, even though in most cases he's probably taking home more money and doesn't have debt over his head.

Its really an inferiority complex. We feel like we constantly have to prove to the world that we overcame some type of struggle. Some people will even subconsciously create strife in their life to feed this narrative.

Its not even that we didn't know about these jobs, we just look down on them. A friend of mine runs an electrician business he inherited from his father and he's practically begging otherwise smart young black men to come learn the trade. But these nikkas will fall into debt with a communication degree only to end up managing a call center for 50k a year. Still taking vacations 2 or 3 times a year and buying cars on 7 year payment plans tho, gotta show the world you bossed up.

Meanwhile smarter kids are going after valuable degrees or going straight into the trades, making 60k or better before they hit 25.

One day we're really gonna have to have an honest conversation about the toxic elements of black American culture :francis:

And when those fields get flooded and wages get lowered as obtaining that degree becomes easier......what then? It will be like the IT profession.

Just face it, and make all jobs have living wages for everyone. No, it may not be the same, but it will relieve the pressure from everyone rushing to overpriced institutions and getting the same professional trade for (barely) middle class wages.

Every field can't be flooded, thats just not how floods work :gucci:

There will always be opportunities.

IT would still be a top tier earner if it wasnt for corporations paying the government to import slave labor from 3rd world countries. As u can see in that graph posted earlier, people shy away from computer science degrees.

And what world do you live in where tradesmen barely make a middle class wage? fukking plumbers out here making 75k a year snaking drains. But then again its not "glamorous" like STEM to trigger your jealousy so you overlook them.

Curb illegal immigration, put some fire on the places who hire them and watch wages rise. No need to pass legislation that the corporations who already skirt labor laws and immigration laws now will find a way around anyway and will only hurt the small businesses who don't have an army of lawyers and accountants to beat the system.

Exactly!

They already need quotas to keep the number of immigrant kids down at Ivy League schools.

I have quite a few engineer (electrical, software/systems and a couple of petroleum) homies and they all make nice bread. Travel the world at the drop of a hat. Getting into those management positions though is tough. Shyt at my job, the entire IT staff is black and Indian except the Sr. Manager and Director. Diversity at the bottom and then increasingly white as you move up the mountain.
