So you basically contradicted yourself. And you chose a garbage City to fit your narrative:mjlol:

I didn't say anything about them wanting to starve to death. It's purely economics. 100 English majors will be paid way more than 1,000,000 English majors.

Seeing as there's so many, some are willing to take less pay to get a job. And do you have them out there making $39,000/year

You get in, what you put in, that's the way the world works

Have a viewpoint different than some racist CEO, first off.

Second, the money is there, but CEOs now make 500 to 1000 times more money than the worker. 1975, it was only 50 times.

Third, properly distribute taxes like the Eisenhower era, and the quality of living will increase for all.

Chicken and the egg argument. Double the salary for teachers, and fresh new blood comes in. Fresh new BLACK male teachers come in and turn the entire system around. That only happens when you raise their salaries first.

Raise the salaries for all the workers across the board, and control the cost of living, and America will be a first world country again. Its that simple. But you see yourself as the CEO one day that gets endless raises while exploiting your workers. You truly believe that the system is perfect now and doesnt need anything else. It's really that fruitless, explaining anything further to you.

Havr a good life convincing people to see your viewpoint in 2020. You soon realize your model is outdated.
:russ::russ::russ:

People tried to give teachers raises by tying their salary to their performance.

But people said that was racist or something.

So why should an excellent teacher give his heart and soul just to make the exact same thing as the teacher who says fukk them kids and just shows up for the check?

Here's a clue, they won't...

They'll either go into administration, start teaching at a private school, or leave the profession altogether.

You have absolutely no clue how the real world operates.

People who are good at things don't just exist to serve you. They like to be compensated for their efforts. And giving them the same compensation as people who obviously don't care just demoralizes them and makes them look for something or somewhere else that will appreciate their efforts.

Thats basic human nature.

And why socialist governments fail time and time again.

Socialist government failing? Then why do they still have a better standard of living than America? You're the one rambling and not making sense.,

Breh just stop

74% of Venezuelans have lost weight, not by choice, after fumbling the bag that came with huge oil reserves. They burned through the money trying to be all things to all people, and now people are cooking and eating dogs.

Communist china executed millions of "dissidents" (kinda sounds like your guillotine talk). They softened up compared to what they used to be, but still relentlessly punishes its citizens, censors information, and control every aspect of their citizens lives.

Cuban doctors and baseball players have their families threatened if they try to leave the island to showcase their skills to the world without Government permission.

The ussr failed.

I could go on...

All u got is a few European countries and their beand of socialism is fairly new. The jury is still out on what happens when all those social programs inevitably bankrupts their government.

So you saying the CEO should hire the English graduate asking fro $65,000 and not the English graduate who's willing to work for $39,000 and can do the same work?

Their go-to argument is "what about socialist europe!?" :damn: Nevermind the fact that the most "socialist" countries in Europe have freer economies with less regulation and lower corporate taxes than the US. Countries like Sweden, Denmark and even Canada routinely outrank the US on freedom indexes. They are not socialist they are capitalist.

Well, Duh. And lower his own salary too for employee loyalty.

But even something that simple is too much.

I've known civil, enviromental and mechanical engineers with salaries starting in the low to mid 40s for new grads. Down south and in the Carolinas it's not uncommon. Especially if you work for a city or state govt which are sometimes the only spots that will give a new black grad a shot. Those studies you mention don't mention the fact that black new grads are also the most underpaid as we all know so the average starting salary for black students is less.

Like I mentioned it happens. Often times the person is in a saturated market, or they work at a small company. If you graduated from say Mississippi State in manufacturing engineering. But you are from the delta and want to live there and get a job at the local manufacturing plant in your home town they probably ain't offering you 50k.

Another fact people don't take into account is that kats graduate with no exp or have avg GPAs. So that means they get offers from lower tier companies which in turn makes it more likely to get low balled and start at a bottom of the barrel salary.

At the end of the day their are people who make below the avg salary even in STEM for multiple reasons.

But all is not lost. The goal with corporate america is get in get you some exp to put on your resume and jump to another job. That is how you make money and a big salary. I have seen folks start off making less than their peers. But by that 5th or 6th year into their career they are making almost double some of what their peers make because they weren't scared of bouncing from job to job to get that salary up.

I have a stem undergrad and made pennies in research, then I did some traveling abroad from some money I saved up (graduated before the recession). I also have zero debt. It took me a while to make “good” money but at this point I don’t have to work. I really enjoy research though.

Yep a lot of folks have had that situation. But here is the deal sista you and I know as folks with STEM degrees once you get that experience employers don't even care about your degree.

They basically pay you for the knowledge you have gained as a professional and what you can bring to their company. Your degree is almost an afterthought its what have you done as a professional.

So if you pay an English major as much as an Engineer, what incentive do people have to major in Mechanical/Electrical/Petroleum Engineering?

Why major in accounting when you'll pay English majors $65,000?

TBH if English and Engineering degrees got you the same job I'd still choose Engineering. I'd take rather take my chances with Calculus/Differential Equations/Physics/Circuits/Signals/Dynamics/ETC... vs writing a College paper any day :francis:
