The main issue is not having a strategy when getting these degrees.
It is also the last 2 to 3 generations had no interest in certain fields educated black folks went into.
For example on my dads side 95% of the educated folks are teachers. The reason is because back then especially in Mississippi if you were gonna get an education and a job (staying in Mississippi) pretty much the only lane you could be in was as a educated black person was a teacher.
Back then many of my family members on my fathers side graduated from HBCUs in Mississippi worked then moved to Chicago or Cleveland or Detroit.
Now a days and the last 3 generations look at a field in teacher as beneth them. While not looking at being a teacher in cities up north allow you to have benefits that other folks don't have. You get a decent salary while also working for powerful unions. For example the chicago teachers union is one of the most powerful in america
The mayor comes up short on their money they will shut the city down and go on strike for a month if they have to.
