because basketball is an individual sport?
20pts 10 reb 7 assists his 2nd year in the league
21pts 9 rebound 7 assists and 2 steals his 3r dyear
the year he added a 3 point shot he avg 26ppg 7rebound 5 assists and shot 35% from 3pt - that happened to be the year he hurt his ankle, he was only 27/28, he had not reached his prime scoring wise.
in the playoffs, teams would just double him the entire game he was tthe only guy. and 4 times? 1 of those times (the last time) is when he was injured smh
when tmac gets discussed, what is the first criticism?
- never got out of the first round, loser
when the sonics/knicks/jazz teams of the 90's, what is the first criticism?
- never won a ring
fact of the matter is that when talking about all time greatness, rings play a factor..regardless of extenuating circumstances. he was never going to win a ring, ever..and certainly not as the main piece. i personally rank boogie high in current discussions of young bigs but whats the main criticism? empty stats and a loser..and there is nothing for me to say otherwise right now.
95-96 pistons had a good year, 46-36. grant hill, allan houston, a still serviceable dumars, otis thorpe...he even had good playoff stats that year..too bad he got swept in the first round.
96-97 pistons had the best team record for him as a main piece. 54-28. Lost to the hawks 3-2 in the first round. and getting doubled? he had a 35.3% usage rate and put up harden numbers with 20 attempts a game and 8 free throw attempts. if he was getting doubled all the time he wouldnt have those numbers friend.
the next year, he played 81 games and his team ended up 8 games under 500.
year after he played all 50 games in shortened season...what happened? same old shyt..first round exit to the hawks (again)..and they had added stackhouse and his buddy laettner that year. laettner couldnt do it for him like he did at duke. they were hoping he could add a little more toughness and edge to grant and the team but alas
you would think a top 10 player all time could win a first round series as the main guy right? pippen did more with the bulls when jordan was retired than grant did. and pippen is rarely considered top 10 all time. in fact, name a top 10 player with less playoff success than grant hill?

you cant. whats his career 3pt%? 30%? you know how easy it is for a playoff team to gameplan against a "top scorer" who cant shoot a 3? ask popovich when they swept bron with the cavs. he was always built to be a regular season warrior and thats it. and come to think of it..just to squash the hypothetical "if he was healthy with tmac" shyt...no they wouldnt have done anything either. that was not a good chemistry fit whatsoever and, ironically, tmac never put up good 3pt% as well. he put up huge numbers but hes a low 30% career 3pt shooter. magic woulda got crunched in the playoffs even in a shytty east and swept if they made it to the finals.
