no chance

tell me who he couldve surpassed on this list (which isnt even just ten) to get into the top 10

jabbar, jordan, wilt, russell, shaq, kobe, bird, magic, duncan, dream, big o, baylor, dr j, lebron, zeke, both malones, stockton, pippen, david robinson, kevin mchale, ewing

there are 22 players there with some greats left off and some on there that MAYBE you could make an argument if grant kept up his peak numbers for almost his whole career. even a few on there without rings.

You're going off established accomplishments, as opposed to raw game.... What I said was prefaced with, "if things went favorably"

Furthermore, you doubled up list with greats that played with greats........ What great did Grant play with in his 6-7 years....? :sas1:

this is the ONLY TIME AND PLACE EVER where ive heard/seen someone claim he'd be top 10 all time. completely fukkin outrageous. he wasnt going to be that in a vacuum and he certainly wouldnt have been that without winning a ring or multiple rings and he never would have

and this is the one of the few places that actually tries to validate Steve Nash's back to back MVPs :snoop:

Its not outrageous at all........
Calling him a potential top-10 of all time is outrageous. It's beyond outrageous.

Hell... The top 5 has shifted..............
Shifted since when? The top 5 hasn't changed since Jordan retired.
Yall act like the top 10 is immutable...
It basically is :

Kareem
Jordan
Wilt
Magic
Russell
Bird
Duncan
Shaq
Kobe
Dream
LeBron

There's 11 there. Hill was never going to come close to anyone in the top 10.

Then you got dudes who either have an argument for top 10 or are floating around the 11-20 spots, and Hill wouldn't be better than AT LEAST half of them if he stayed healthy for the remainder of his career.

:dead: how many conditions are you going to put on this mythical, hypothetical greatness? if my aunt had wheels shed be a wheelbarrow

"compared to other injured players who didnt have things go favorably and didnt play with other greats he wouldve been top 10" :leon:

if things went favorably then perhaps he wouldve had "other greats" to play with, which would then undermine one of the main premises youre positing

if things went favorably for len bias he wouldve been top 10 all time :smugdraper:....?

he was healthy for plenty of years and, a player who at his peak was supposedly one of the best in the league never got out of the first round. that is a fact. if you want to base it on that and eliminate other variables, then compare him to TMAC and look at their what couldve been team-up in orlando as a sad and cautionary tale of two injury prone all-time skillful players who did nothing but lose in the playoffs

First and foremost..... all this shyt is subjective...... outside of the top 3 which is Kareem, MJ, and maybe Magic....... and that's up for debate....
OJ was the best RB my uncles saw.... The best RB I saw was Barry Sanders.... the best QB I saw was Warren Moon(real talk), the best QB my OGs saw was Dan Marino....

The best WR I saw was Jerry RIce, but I can make a helluva an argument for Randy.... The best baseball player I saw was Barry Bonds...

and one of the best B Ball games I saw in the pros was Grant Hill, and I am no where near alone..... yall are using storylines to define your opinions and don't even know it...

Its not that deep tho... If you don't think he would have been a top 10 guy if things went in his favor, then that's more than cool

:leostare: i love warren moon and randy moss too. you may have softened me up a little with this post :wow:

but i still stand firm on the grant hill subject. he was very skilled and a very good player for 4-5 years and thats as far as it goes for me

im a shawn kemp stan and i think at his absolute peak he was one of the best players in the league but i cant sit here and say he wouldve been top 10, top 20 or even top 30 based on his body of work and some hypotheticals (no strike, no coke, no hundreds of children, no dollar menu). and at their absolute best for one season ill take kemp over hill and idc what people have to say about that. kemp was a cold blooded beast in a stacked west..he and payton gave the bulls their best run in the finals imo and that was against the 72-10 team if my memory serves right. he was destroying rodman

Was this family/homies backstory really necessary? :dwillhuh:

And no this shyt isn't really subjective - this isn't the rap game - this is sports.

if hes talking just pure skills at his best disregarding actual events then it is subjective so ill grant him that (pun).

but like i said above, if we're going that route..and not taking into account reasonable trajectory for the teams he was on and what may have been with the magic (i think a flop but its not worth talking about really in this convo)..then id still say there is no way he is top ten and id name a handful of guys id simply prefer to have on my team in a blank canvas scenario

You can't say guy has a skillset that can possibly be top 20 GOAT and then say you can't take him because of unfortunate circumstances

clarify the scenario in which im picking players for me because i cant pinpoint the exact situation you are getting at here

how many players am i picking? id be comfortable saying his skill-set as it stands is top 40 just to give some extra cushion. perhaps as high 20-30 range but id have to really think about it.

if i am picking a 10-15 man roster hes not making it

and when i said "top ten and a handful.." i was implying guys was out of the top 10-15 discussion just off personal preference and complete opinion
