Drake is God
Sweeterman
This is probably quite well known and applicable in more places than just Scotland but thought I would share it anyway
If you have huge credit card bills, bank overdrafts to repay, loans (student or bank) etc etc you can wipe it all providing you can stay under the radar for a while. Howard Marks (a convicted drug smuggler) exposed on national TV just how easy it is to change your name by Deed Pole (on the internet for £11.99). Two hours later he'd gained a new driving license and passport under the new name of Marco Polo.
How It Works:
The law in Scotland (elsewhere too) allows anyone who wishes to change their forename and/or surname. You can use pretty much any chosen name you wish and the new name does not have to be connected in any way to either of your original names or those of your family members.
First of all, you need to get a new birth certificate that represents your new name.
There are several ways (all legal) in which a name may be changed on a birth certificate, depending upon your particular circumstances. The most common way to record a name (again, in Scotland), is by a Recording of Change of Name. You can obtain an application form from any registrar of births deaths and marriages in Scotland, and the cost to change your name this way is £36. The cost of a new birth certificate is less than £15.
Now that you have legally changed your name you can apply for a passport under your new identity. Fair enough that'll cost you about £80 these days but if you're clearing £20,000 of debt that won't be your concern
When the bailiffs come knocking at your door you can have both a birth certificate and passport in your new name. Tell them that you just moved in and apologise for not having a forwarding address for the 'previous tenant'
With your new identity you also have No Credit History. If you apply for a bank account with no credit history you'll more than likely be rejected, so instead you should get your hands on a few mail order catalogues like Freemans etc. Order some shyt out of the catalog and KEEP UP THE REPAYMENTS. Within 3-6 months you will have a glowing credit history and the bank will be happy to give you an account (though probably best to use a different bank to your previous lol)
