I swear there's exposals every day. You don't even say you're not interested in watching it. You say it NEEDS TO END because it threatens you so much. But why? Why is putting the top two men and top two women on a team so threatening to you?

I think he slowed up intentionally. It was only the first heat and his squad probably only needed to be in the top 3. No sense in wasting energy when a slot to the next round was secured.
Yep they didn’t lose, they slowed down on purpose. Dude in second was even telling the guy behind him to slow down and not to pass her
exactly. They let her get her shine in front of the home crowd but I’m sure that wasn’t the case in the final.

Looked intentional to me too. He didn't even look winded after the race like I'd expect if he just ran out of gas.
1. Sounds like that shyt them Asian "table tennis" and "Badminton" players get in trouble for cause of throwing matches to secure better placement.

this was just a qualifier for the next round. He just needed to finish in the top 3. The chick who “won” was running at her home stadium so he (and the guy behind him) let her have her moment in front of the home crowd.
And it makes sense for him to preserve his energy for the next round while she burns out trying to outrace the men.
In that case she would have about as much incentive as them to punch it up a notch.
Showing off for the home country is less an incentive than actually positioning your team/country well for the long haul.
I do see what your saying about this being an early race (this is the 1st heat) as opposed to say (quarter/semi)finals tho
Heats: A heat is a grouping of athletes with similar times competing in the same running event. In large meets not all of the athletes in a particular event can compete on the track at the same time. There is always one heat of finals in major events like the Olympics. However, many high school invitationals may have “timed finals” from several heats. They run several heats due to large numbers of entrants and no qualifying rounds. After all have run they line up results as if they were in just one race together. (Yes, you can be beaten by someone you didn’t even race against.)
