So I think most of us have watched Showtime's documentary on Allen Iverson.
And everyone knows how great a player he was.

But I guess at the time of his career I didn't realize how impactful and influential Allen Iverson was.
If you saw the documentary, they sure made it seem like he was largely responsible for bringing hip-hop culture to the forefront of the NBA.

His braids, his style of dress, the way he looked on the court...his tattoos.....(and was anyone wearing those sleeves before Iverson?)

Does AI deserve more credit for being a cultural/stylistic icon? Or did the documentary overstate his impact?

i've seen him around the 757 a few times. I've wanted to tell him how much I appreciate his legacy, influence, etc....but he's infamous for being a dikk to his fans who approach him:aicmon:

my youth group used to get free georgetown tickets, so i saw him play all the time at the Capital Center and MCI Center ('94-96):flabbynsick:.

he definately repped for VA, made a huge influence on the game...brought that and 1 feeling to the NBA. everybody on the court is tatted up because of him.

his personality is so Jefferson Blvd...shyt is crazy. I know mad nikkas in bad newz who act exactly like him...it ain't a front...nikkas just don't give a fukk around there.

Iverson is the biggest cultural icon basketball has ever had.

OK.
