Dropped way before he died.

The debut of Drop A Gem was on Future Flavers.....Pete Rock and Marly Marl kept stressing to get your tapedecks ready. Pac was still alive that Sunday night. Its was maybe a few weeks later when he got killed.

Too me it was the first shot. It felt like there was more to come but Pac died soon after and things just changed. The same with Biggie....The mood in the air at the time was that something bigger was brewing from everyone Pac called out on Hit Em Up but Pac dying changed things around.

But Mobb Deep putting it on the album, after the fact was cold as fukk :whew:

It was as if they were saying 'fukk you' to his death.

Nobody takes sub 5 foot men serious

Basically. Good disses have to either be factual or funny.

Mobb deep are studio gangsters. Empty tough guy talk is lame. Anyone can pop shyt in the studio. It's more potent when you know the person is about that action.

However, this

Mobb Deep should thank Pac.

Pac dissing them, probably got them more recognition than their biggest hit.

Also, the whole days are numbered line would be dope if they were the ones who caused the death of Pac. Since they didn't, that just a basic throwaway diss line, like the other empty threats Prodigy made towards Jay.

The importance of this track is manufactured mostly by the internet, just like Reasonable Doubt's impact in 96, Pac's superior lyrical abilities or Big L's potential for greatness.

Naming him was the easy way to go about it. They chose a much more difficult path to execute. And everyone knew it was about Pac. Except Rosenberg apparently. :lolbron:

I don't know about Rosenberg right. But that's a piss poor excuse for a "diss". Word to Drake
