How is it possible to be a climate change denier at this point?

Because "making the libs mad :umad:" is more important to than a hospitable planet.

This nation has entirely too many smartdumb morons and contrarians adding to propaganda narratives made by for profit entites. So here we are

Here is a conversational example of pretty much everything discussed in this thread. Note the cockiness within having absolute shyt morals & priorities. Note the (intentional or not) water carrying for billionaires destroying the planet. Note the priority of hating on liberals trumping all things including existential survival. These were the attitudes on display during our last chance to combat this shyt

Make note of these things and understand how we got here. Its over

The Ummah!
Its not a chinese conspiracy. Countries like China and India are the cause and need to be dealt with through economic sanctions. But we get sold out for big corp $. Me not driving a v8 or going to the grocery store without plastic bags wont help.

As always there's a financial interest.

Americans today are just self centered and easy to manipulate. If world War 2 popped off today we would get folded like toilet paper and flushed down the drain.
I read the first part and agreed. The second part is a trainwreck. No one is touching the US. No one. We're sending our scraps to Ukraine and they holding off an army 3-4x times it size

Agreed.

All this electric vehicle BS. Using paper straws. FOH. That's just spreading out the misery across various industries.

Mag Lev trains now.

In the city, in the burbs, across the country, across the world.

And if that means 99% of people live in a highly dense city, with 1% if the hinterlands tending to crops, so be it.
I was listening to some Ted talks and there are legitimate ways to beat climate change but, the capitalist class would make less money. It’s not even like they would be operating at a deficit, they just wouldn’t be seeing record profits to appease their share holders. The people up top pockets are being laced so instead of solving the problem we are just going to live with it.

Edit: I gotta grind the lecture but homeboy broke down the math and if each country put aside 2% of our gdp to fight climate change we could come out on top.

I was listening to a Vivek Ramaswamy interview yesterday.. (I know, believe me I know, but it's important to know your enemies and he's actually TIED with DeSantis in some polling) and this nikka doesn't even deny man made climate change, he's changing the narrative on how to address them. He calls them climate "cultists". He says they're scientists with a "lived experience used to describe a macro phenomena". WHAT IN THE ACTUAL fukk...

He says more people die from cold temperatures than hot temperatures (I don't even know if this can be measured accurately), that increased carbon emissions actually increase plant life on earth and that there is more plant life than 100 years ago (not sure what this has to do rising sea levels and erratic catastrophic weather). Even if these were true, it's NOT indicative of future events.

He said catastrophic weather causing insurance companies to pull completely out of certain states is an ESG conspiracy and ultimately there is no existential threat to humanity.

For what it's worth, I do think the earth will bounce back. It just won't bounce back with any resemblance of civilized humanity on it. We'll destroy ourselves fighting over the last bit of drinkable water, temperate climate, arriable land, holding onto shiny trinkets that don't mean shyt in the grand scheme of things.

These people are disconnected from reality. People are easily fooled by being charismatic and run a business as a catchall for being able to run the planet. We are fukked long-term if we continue to let people run the country like this. We probably are fukked now.

The WILD thing is, we can shift to a more sustainable economy if we actually focused on it. I hate electric cars (double-edged sword, but it's arguably more sustainable than the alternative), but if it's what we gotta do we gotta do it. I love beef, but if I can only eat a hamburger once a month (I actually only eat a burger once a month), it's what we gotta do. We should've been switched back to nuclear power.

Conservatives can only deny climate change for so long. The reality is that the impacts of climate change are far more severe and happening much quicker than anyone anticipated. With every passing year conservatives pushing climate change denialism will look more and more idiotic as the public deals with impacts of it firsthand. It will become an untenable position to have very soon.

I believe your protypical conservative will deny until the day they die. There's a wild confluence of beliefs that make it even hard to talk to your typical conservative. Many of them think we don't have a big enough sample size to determine if this is out of the norm or extreme. You provide data that shows millions of years of climate and the rate of change over those millions of years, yet many of these mothafukkas only believe the earth is 6,000 years old. And the final dagger is this is just "God's will" so why should we change anything?

I start to get homicidal thoughts when the conversation becomes this obtuse. Like, they should not be able to continue their bloodline if you're going to be this stubborn.

Fortunately for them, the American public is very stupid so it doesn't really hurt them politically. Worst comes to worst they can just blame minorities.
