Problem with "GOAT" discussion is that most people believe MJ is that dude so they will take his best achievements and judge all other players by how they measure up to MJ.
It's like saying "all about dem rangz, Erneh" and saying Jordan doesn't match up with Russell or is maybe a tie with KAJ at best.
You gotta use neutral, consistent criteria. Not sure if hoops has an equivalent of DVOA (football) or WAR (baseball) but you need stats that can be normalized against the era someone played in.
Championships should factor in as well but that's more of a tiebreaker and shouldn't be the foundation of any argument. It's also difficult when comparing players asked to do different things. Bron was basically asked to be some weird mix of Magic and MJ while being the size of Karl Malone. They are both on the Mt. Rushmore of NBA greats.

The only criteria for goat should be who dominated their era the best. Stats and style of play is all subjective but dominance over your peers is the differentiator. It’s clearly MJ but people need something to keep talking about so I get it.

It’s not unique, but Mike & Steph was atleast drafted to trash teams that actually tried to get better and gave a serious fukk.
Bron didn’t have that from the jump and their FO made some questionable moves earlier on to desperation moves latter that didn’t work.
We see it all the time and some players been exposed that not ever franchise really cares to win like that. Some guys are just happy to be owners and have a team with their FO just happy to be getting a paycheck.
