I don’t really disagree with you but you do have a lot of Mavs fans who slick hate on Trae for no reason. I’m of the belief that BOTH our teams drafted the right guy, Luka’s with a great organization, Trae is becoming a superstar in his own right.
I do think this organization is gonna be on the clock for Trae soon...this team was not built well, I love Coach Pierce but he hasn’t coached this team well (horrible substitutions, no defensive adjustments)...shyt we haven’t looked competitive in multiple games early this year. Trae is gonna be lookin at Schlenk and Co real suspect if this team continues to look and operate like this for the next year or two
I was just saying that it goes both ways. Not you in particular. But this board has plenty of Doncic doubters/haters. It’s weird that Trae fans are victims, meanwhile I’m getting @‘d or quoted by obsessed people anytime Luka has a bad quarter... It is what it is at this point. Luka went from being a guaranteed bust to being in MVP convos in his 2nd year and weirdo ATL/Trae stans stay negging/quoting. It’s amusing.
It’s hard for me to evaluate Pierce because your squad has so many raw, young pieces. Like, what is your timeline? I feel like you guys are 2 years away, at minimum, from being able to properly evaluate your core. Hunter and Reddish, you won’t be able to make a reasonable conclusion about them and how they turned out, until around 2021/2022. Huerter and Collins suffered setbacks in their development just through sheer unavailability to start this year. Looks like you’ll get a nice draft slot this year, so add another young guy to the fold this offseason.
By the time Trae’s rookie deal ends, you guys MAY start to have an idea of the personnel around him and what their realistic capabilities are. That’s a tenuous situation. All the while your coach having baffling rotations/minutes strategy.
And I have the same concerns with Luka. They’re not as severe as it sounds like yours are with Trae, but I do wonder what his mindset will be in a few years if he’s surrounded by role players, albeit quality ones, and an underwhelming KP. Guys want a secondary star. There aren’t really any Dirk/Hakeem guys left that are okay with carrying a team of supporting cast.
