How is Wale's new album only projected to sell only 23k-27k? What is he doing wrong?

Wale has skill but he hasn’t been entertaining since his straight up rapping mixtapes

He makes the same girl friendly pseudo RnB songs over and over and apparently females just do not connect with this nikka.

He needs a hip hop producer to create a whole new sound for him away from the romantic poem shyt nor the go go shyt nor the afrobeat shyt. Maybe give em one or two but not a whole tape of that shyt... it ain’t working

Why is this even a thread? Dude been washed up and irrelevant for a good 5-6 years now
"The Album About Nothing" came out 4 years ago though and is a classic. I swear people just saying whatever the fukk they want on here

These are the songs that people like from Wale though. Everyone praised "Effortless,Black Bonnie,On Chill"

Now that the album is out he needs a "whole new sound"

Like what the hell do yall want from this dude?

Hell i remember during the "self made" tapes people were saying how Wale doesn't fit on these mmg collabs. Yet now those same people sare saying "Routine" is one of the best tracks on here.

Like i swear none of yall know what yall want when it comes to wale. But yall just love to bash him.

But i do agree Wale doesn't help himself by doing these twitter rants. Just let the music speak for itself and your core fanbase will rock with u. It sucks he's not bigger then he is cause his skillset is there. But it is what it is.

As far as the album. "Sue Me" is a top 5 wale track ever. But the album itself while better then Shine isn't anything special. Def no where near his trifecta (Ambition,The Gifted,TAAN)

But at the same time. What post 2010 rapper dropped 3 albums back to back with the quality of Ambition,The Gifted,TAAN?? I don't think people really realize how good those 3 albums are.

OP should be worrying about Big Sean not being able to drop a single that resonates with the masses. It’s October and Sean release date is no where to be found.

It’s 2020 and hip hop is still the only genre in which it’s fans bring up album sales even in era were record sales are at an all time low.

Extinct
There is nothing about him that is all that stand out or appealing. He has a shytty attitude, an unwarranted ego and his music is generic.

These are good numbers for him.

To be fair, dude could had brought DC Go Go to the mainstream if he would had rolled that style he had on these songs:

Instead, he went the opposite direction with whatever the hell only for rappers like J Cole take his introspective style and succeed with it. :yeshrug:Cold world when you can't find your style even though it always been with you from day one.

Ok those “songs” are good but the albums around those songs are trash

Nobody wants these half mumble half singing boring songs about relationships for an hour. Even Drake who owns that lane switches the shyt up after a few songs.

The beats are weak, he not saying nothing entertaining, and that spoken word flow is just as cringe as it ever was.

The saving grace was that all the features killed.

He isn’t an artist that you can leave alone in the studio and trust he is gonna come out with good product. He needs a NoId or Kanye or some producer to box him into a new sound and bring something fresh out of him.

nobody outside of dc wanted to hear any dc gogo, hence what’s why he didn’t go that route. And he has put that sound in some of his earlier music and it still didn’t transcend to sells.
