Yep, Suge said it out of his mouth after the song came out but I forget where. He confronted Jay about how he kept saying he fukked with Pac so he should show it.

Only thing I can find on it is scattered info, the way I remember it, Suge just confronted Jay about how he kept saying he fuks with Pac so he should show it and some how someway something was worked out to where Jay Z doing the Me and My girlfriend song put coins in Suges pocket but the way Suge was wording it was as if he was hinting at it being legal extortion. And that's the real reason why the song just doesn't feel right.

Rumor is Jay got robbed in LA, and Suge got his possessions back for him. So, in return, Jay worked out a deal with Suge, who had Pac's masters at the time to remake that song.

Yea that's how Jay Z got the remix/sample cleared, he gave up points/royalties to Suge Knight

So Jay happened to have a show(s) in the West, and him thinking being cool with Dre was enough, he didn't check with anybody else that he was coming to the coast. Got to West, and came across Suge. Short story long, Suge held Jay and showed him he was the one running Cali, not Dre.

Apparently, Jay-Z had to cut check for Suge to be set free, unharmed. And accepted to pay homage to Tupac, hence the "Bonnie and Clyde" song. If you think about it, it could be true. Cuz Jay & Dre's tightness loosened up. And why would Jay-Z, a New York rapper and Biggie's friend pay homage to New York's number 1 enemy?? And Suge really had that juice.

Interesting ....who knows

Also recall Jay and co had to get permission from Pac's mother who owns the rights to his work. That was widely reportedly

Jay also cleared a Death row remix in response

Always felt the record was in the interest of peace and was a good introduction to Jayonce ...the bonnie and clyde thing

Believe he brought both Bigs and Pacs mother on stage at a tour stop after it dropped as well

I never thought a rapper could have fan fiction lol

Jay first album after his break was a album produced by Dr Dre lol

1. Jay needed a real comeback after the R. Kelly fiasco earlier in that year. That happened at the wrong time especially when Nas officially snatched Jay’s soul.

2. I think that Jay had to do something for Suge to get that sample. I doubt he had Ty-Ty pull the knife out on Suge like how Cam supposedly did.

3. Nas was on Thug Mansion too so Jay had to sample Me and My Girlfriend just to feel like he worked with Pac.

IIRC, Suge gave him the M&MG clearance for the low in exchange for Jay giving Suge the Hovi Baby remix that Suge put on the Dysfunctional Family soundtrack that The Row produced.

Just the year prior, Death Row had put out a Dogg Pound album where they through the "Change the Game rmx" on it with Jay, Beans, and Bleek, so it was clear the Suge and Jay had a working relationship. Not sure if the kidnap story is true though

1- Most singles, from any artist you can name, are inherently corny. From this to dirt off your shoulders to Be humble etc. The masses are corny. So there’s a bit of dumbing down that occurs. In real time this was not a song real ones really fw. It was for the corny masses.

2- Jay made it listenable for us real ones bc of the bars. ‘You dudes treat the one you lovin the same as the ones you fukin’…..’Don’t let thaw necessary occur, YEP’

2b- Beyonce killed the bridge with the merge of Prince If i was your girlfriend. ‘Even if that somebody was meee——-yea that’s hot——-yeheeeeheeee’

All in all, the song wasn’t terrible. Just more revisionist Jay hate
