That wasn't hard to do. Neither one was great and they both underachieved.

Didn't show up when it mattered AT ALL in that series. Steph averaged 26 and 8 when they won the finals and people say he played like crap. Can't have it both ways if he's a superstar.

They had a better team than OKC last year and were expected to get to the conference finals. KD was giving him the business all series. I like Kawhi but as somebody mentioned, people act like he's above criticism. It'll be the same this year when they get bounced. It'll be trade Aldridge, Tony needs to retire etc

Ima tell you like i said in the other thread:

He didn't disappear, disappoint, or underachieve against OKC last year, he just didnt ELEVATE his play and THAT's why we got bounced. His numbers was good, he played within himself, but he gotta elevalate his play for us to be successful in the post season. If you wanna say that's disappointing then i guess that's cool, i won't argue that.

He will do that this year as he is the CLEAR #1 scoring option as oppose to last year when we tried to make it a 1A 1B thing with him and LMA. It's clesr now that he is #1 option and LMA is the #2/3.

And also, LMA does need to be gone. Dude is just too soft and a liability defensively. Nothing that we didnt already know before signing em but we all thought the Spurs way would make him work harder at trying to shore up those weaknesses.

Spurs fans ain't got unreasonable expectations.

Kawhi will still be loved by San Antonio finals or no finals.

Look at George Gervin. Never got San Antonio a ring yet the city loves him.

It's a quiet fan base just like the Spurs superstars.

I doubt the fans in SA care about what the media or other NBA fans thinks about Kawhi either. We'll keep goin to the games while the bloggers talk shyt.

the ether
i think this is what it is

All i remember is they got knocked out from the playoffs but i don't remember how or what was the problem all i know is the spurs was not playing anymore :yeshrug:

Facts.

CP3, Durant and Westbrook, Lebron, Curry - every time they've been kicked out of the playoffs since they became stars, the reason it happened and how much of it was their fault was broadcast endlessly.

With Kawhi, I've only seen it among die-hards. In the general media, any supposed "failings" of Kawhi were hardly talked about - everyone just moved immediately on to the Thunder-Warriors matchup.

To be honest, for the most part this is the way it SHOULD be. Durant/Westbrook/Lebron/Curry/CP3 have had their narratives way over-analyzed, every playoff lost blamed on their failings rather than the fact that coaches and teammates and circumstances matter a lot too. I'd rather other stars be treated like Kawhi than Kawhi be treated like other stars.

But as long as it ain't that way, he gonna get me holding him to the same standards everyone else is. :yeshrug:

2015- bounced in round 1 to LAC
2016- bounced in round 2 to OKC while eliminated in blowout fashion

If the team on pace for 65 wins with a "superstar" falls short of the WCF again, only so much blame we can place on Lamarcus. Maybe at that point we can consider Kawhi Jimmy Butler with a competent organization

The best way to judge players whether they win or lose in the playoffs is on how they play. Period. They can win due to playing shytty and having a good team (Kobe) and get overrated. They can play lights out and fail because their team isn't good enough (Chris Paul). If Kawhi plays lights out and his team loses to GS or Houston then he shouldn't be taking "blame" for a loss. Sometimes you lose to the better team. Trying to find reasons for blame is just stupidity.

Does this very same criteria extend to Lebron James?
