I'm about to be 31 and thinking about switching careers into Mechanical Engineering. I want something that's hands-on, some traveling, and office work.

Don't know if I got the patience for it though.:francis:

What do you do now?

I have an associate's degree in construction management. I like the field, but I'm now realizing I have nowhere to really go outside project management (requires a lot of travel)or estimating/scheduling(boring). With Mechanical engineering the possibilities seem endless.

There's also Mechanical Engineering Technology, which is a step down. Doesn't seem to be any schools near me. I think I'm call a couple schools and talk to some engineering firms.

Nah, your thread hasn't flopped.

I think most people are still trying to figure shyt out. One of the fukked up things in life is that a lot of the decisions you make when you're young, and experienced, have far reaching consequences.

I hope that when I have kids, I can relate to them so that they don't make the same mistakes I made.

You have the right frame of mind for when you have kids. :salute:

Maturity is something a lot of parents lack when raising their children

There are folks who go to Medical School in their mid 40s and up. Don't sell yourself short, its a life changing step, but can be done. Good luck, and definitely go for it.

Imma try Calculus this coming spring Semester. If I can pass it, then I should be OK, idk. I passed Accelerated Pre Calculus Algebra/Trig with a C and I barely studied, so idk

Good on you. Im sure there are tutoring centers and all that stuff available. Take advantage of it. Being older than a lot of students, you are in a much better place. Maturity wise and all that.

Treat it like a marathon, rather than a short sprint. Give yourself little goals, they turn into the big stuff as well.
