This year is my 25th year w/my current employer. At this point, i am in my 7th dept, the longest, the job is relatively easy, my team is amazing, we all get along (been like that 4y now) and it pays well. Only issue is the distance, abt 50 miles ea way. Family obligations kept me from moving closer. New location commute abt 10y. I've gotten offers for 30k more base + sign on bonus but declined for reasons i just mentioned. Sometimes, the environment makes all the difference in the world. No point going some place feeling today just might be the day for more dinero.

As a Black man.. a job? Nah I'm out of that game. One too many cacs tried to hate on me in the corporate world.

I 100% gve up on trying to have a job last year when I suddenly got let go at a company because basically I didn't fit in as a breh in charge.
They like the IDEA of diversity, but when a brother says "these are the areas where the team needs to improve" suddenly the mood changes.

I focused on turning my side hustle (Consulting) into my main hustle (2 new Clients signed so far in 2025).
I work for me now and -unless the money's ABSOLUTELY ridiculous- will never have a "job" again. Nothing against anybody with a job - but in my line of work (lleadership/management level) being Black in corproate..everything you do well, is seen as agression or a threat through 99% of white eyes

That is.. unless you want to tell a Cac "You know, between us, I voted for our Red Leader too" which I will never do. I'm doing this alone and it's working.

@RageKage please add an "I work for myself" option.
You can still use the same options, nothing in question that implies u are working for someone or self employed

4 years and career wise the best decision I ever made. Almost doubled my monthly income in 4 yrs and remote working is a godsend. Unless I find a new gig with even more pay and the same perks I'm staying put. My team consists of 28 of which there are only 3 males, the rest female. I'm good over here.
