How long is Big Sean gonna milk this depression/suicide angle for his career?

Depression isn't just something that goes away. It isn't necessarily the result of a particular experience either. It's an illness. If anything, him talking about it over and over proves it's not an angle. An angle is when you get in some shyt and suddenly you contemplating suicide and then when the shyt blows over you never mention suicide, mental health, depression etc again. I appreciate him speaking out and hope that it helps other cats that are out here struggling.

Great point.

My depression was well documented on SOHH, and the early days of The Coli.

I literally stop posting about it and kept it to myself once it became this worldwide trend :hubie:

Don’t get me wrong...I know mental health and depression is a very serious issue. But, like most everything else in society it has become a contest on who is more depressed or who is more off mental health wise, which is a dangerous game to be playing. Just my opinion.

I never knew about Big Sean's mental health problems so I'm like :what: at all the negative comments in here. You guys are still wondering how rich and famous people can kill themselves and feel like they're worthless. Mental illness affects everybody, regardless of status or race or accomplishments.

Y'all remember when Fab was rapping about funerals and suicide for like 3 years? :heh:

The strange thing about this is that a lot cats feel the need to have public displays of them being adults and dealing with the shyt that comes with life..... when they have the same opportunities as regular folks to deal with shyt in private.

His verse of Deep Reverence came across forced as fukk tho.

im not hating...shyt sounds bytch made.

Even if he really is "depressed" talking publicly isnt anything but a cry for attention.
And this stigmatizing bullshyt is exactly why mental illness is so prevalent in the black community and runs wild unchecked due to idiots wanting to vilify folks with issues making them afraid to seek help for it. First part of healing mental illness, addictions etc is to call it out, and if folks wanna go public with it to deal with it, oh the fukk well. We all know hella ppl with mental illness, then you fake motherfukkers wanna show fake love when they act out in a way that either causes them to end their life or be put away in prison. Just shut the fukk up because if anything's corny, it's you pea brained fukks with uneducated opinions and faux machismo about the shyt. FOH, everyone's such a nihilistic hard ass on the web and it's more annoying than anything else.

I'm happy he is speaking on his issues. Because a lot of are ashamed and that leads drugs and eventually to suicide.

A lot of these rappers suffer from PTSD, depression etc hence the drug usage and violence in their songs and in real life. Think we need to normalize this and not think it's a angle
Not just rappers either. Being black alone leads to several layers of trauma. Most of the blacks packed in prisons are mentally ill people who lash out without help, but no one wants to talk about that because A. Cacs love locking us up and B. Other blacks consider it "soft" or "white people problems", even though we experience hella more trauma from day one.
